Wild Montana Skies is the first book in Susan May Warren's new series, Montana Rescue.

Search and rescue pilot Kacey Fairing is home on leave in Mercy Falls, Montana, twelve years after she joined the military to escape the mistakes of her past. With a job waiting for her as the new lead pilot of Peak Rescue in Glacier National Park, Kacey hopes to reconnect with the now-teenage daughter she sees only between deployments. What she doesn't realize is that someone else is also back in town.

Ben King has been building his country music career since the day Kacey shut him out of her life. Now all of that's on hold when his injured father calls him home to help run Peak Rescue until he's fully recovered. It doesn't take long, though, to discover his father's ulterior motives as Kacey Fairing walks into the house and back into his heart.

Review from Rambles of a SAHM by Fitzysmom on 12/12/2016

A contemporary romance set in Montana and written by Susan May Warren is my idea of reading heaven. I'm not sure why but I have always loved Montana. Things always seem bigger and better there. And this new series from Susan is living up to that bigger and better tag.

Even though this is a contemporary romance there is still an element of suspense that runs through the plot line. To me that is what made this particular novel so compelling. I think a sweet and sappy love story is a nice change now and then but I will take a tension filled drama hands-down every time.

The two main characters are both broken in their own ways. Each of their stories weaves through the other's life even in ways that they don't understand. As the tale unfolded I found myself eagerly anticipating their ultimate healing, not just from the emotional wounds that they carried but also the spiritual hurts that went even deeper.

If you're looking for an adventure along with your romance you can't go wrong with this one. Susan May Warren is a master storyteller and Wild Montana Skies showcases some of her best talent as a writer. I can't wait for the rest of the series to be published.

Fantastic start to a new series, a wild adventurre! by TrixiO on 10/22/2016

Kacey Fairing and Ben King meet again after 13 years when they both are needed to help with the flash flooding in Mercy Falls, MT. Can they put aside past hurts & regrets to not only come together to save lives, but be able to move forward? Will they let God finally heal them heart and soul?

I had the opportunity to read this book and I didn’t hesitate to say yes. I’m very glad I did! This is also my first book by this author and I’m asking myself what took me so long to discover her writing? I felt like I was part of the story, drawn in by the whole cast of characters and the vivid scenery. Both Kacey and Ben have pasts that lead to a life of regrets and misunderstandings. They try to fill those holes with very successful careers that take them far from Mercy Falls where they grew up & fell in love. The more time they spend together working at PEAK Search and Rescue, and more they talk, the truth begins to shine through those dark places where understanding can heal them.

This is a gripping tale full of emotion, one that will have you invested completely! The myriad of characters adds a rich layer, each one with their own personalities to make the story complete. I found myself feeling every emotion they did! If I can connect with the characters that deeply, then the author has done their job! There were quite a few intense rescue scenes to keep my heart in my throat. And the scenery made me want to visit Montana, such a beautiful country! Most importantly, the author reminds us of God’s love & care for us. Even when we’ve strayed so far away & for so long, He’s still waiting with open arms to embrace us. This is not only a search and rescue story for man, but how God searches and rescues us from hurts, regrets, past mistakes and feelings of unworthiness!
There was only one thing that was disappointing to me, how the mystery of Esme’s disappearance wasn’t resolved! But I’m sure that will be answered in subsequent books, which are already on my must-read list!

This is one of my favorite quotes from Ben. It encouraged me and I pray it will you too: “Maybe that’s His (God’s) MO—using the debris of our mistakes to show us how he can save us, rescue us from our dark places. We just have to have that crazy faith that He’ll do it, despite our mistakes, our fears, even our pride.”

GOD mades the Montana Skies by carol on 10/21/2016

What a gargantuan love story, full of redemption and let's face it people - genuine love. GOD is love and HE is running throughout this book and the two characters (Ben and Kacey) are either running towards or away from it and towards or away from each other. Love is a funny thing, but redemption is a wonderful thing. They work with each other to help others in ill-fated situations and it is in these situations that they see each other - I mean really see each other. They both work for PEAK Rescue in the National Park. They were in love 13 years ago and they left each other then - and now they are back in each others lives - what will happen? Will Ben leave again? Will Kacey? will they turn to each other again instead? I tell you - it is a wonderful and surprising answer that you have to read to find out - and believe me - it is worth every single penny. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wild Montana Skies begins Susan May Warren's latest series, Montana Rescue. After her recent overseas military tour, Kacey Faring is coming home to visit her daughter, Aubrey, and to get a few months reprieve before returning to her base in Florida; however, she has no idea that shortly after stepping into Mercy Falls, Montana, she will run into her former fiance, Ben King, now a huge country star!

Although Ben should be in Nashville trying to revamp his career, he has returned to his hometown to help his father, Chet King, recover after an accident has left him with two broken hips. Chet had already hired a temporary pilot to fill in for him on the PEAK rescue team, and it is none other than Kacey Faring, the woman Ben walked away from thirteen years ago! Soon Kacey and Ben are in action with the PEAK team, working together to rescue a group of teenagers trapped in the mountains. Once the team has located the majority of the teens, they realize that two of the teens are still lost. Kacey is surprised when she learns that one of the lost teens is her daughter, Aubrey, the child she has kept hidden from Ben all these years!

When you learn that neither Ben nor Aubrey have known any of the details of the other's life for the past thirteen years, you know that you will need to prepare for a lot of emotions and hopefully, a reconciliation by the final pages of this tale!

This is an interesting story, full of surprises, as it is relayed as only Susan May Warren can!
