- A Must For All Mark Lowry Fans!!! by Beth on 2/19/2014
If thinking about Mark Lowry makes you laugh out loud, brings a smile to your face or points you toward God and learning more and more about Him, then Mark would be pleased and happy that you get that his ministry is about wanting everyone to know and believe in the love God has for each and every one of us. That we are GOD'S BELOVED.In Mark's latest project, he crosses the music lines and shows us another aspect of who he is and some of the music he grew up loving.
"Unforgettable Classics" is just that......unforgettable!!! Mark's passion for these classic love songs shines through in every note and in every word he sings. From "The Very Thought of You" to "I'll Be Seeing You", Mark takes the listener on a journey back in time, with some of the greatest music ever written. Most "love song" recordings make you long for the originals, but not this one. Mark's unique and smooth voice, along with the incredible jazz arrangements and keyboard of David Huntsinger, the orchestration of Steve Mauldin, the many talented musicians including Buddy Greene, Dennis Solee, Jim Ferguson, Greg Ritchie, The Nashville String Machine and the wonderful Saxophonist Sam Levine make "Unforgettable Classics" a MUST HAVE, not only for Mark Lowry fans, but for ALL music fans. And not to forget the many wonderful artist that Mark included in this project. Charlotte Ritchie is truly "Unforgettable". The Martins will bring a smile to your face and make you feel like a kid again as they sing with Mark on "Glow Worm". The harmonies of The Booth Brothers and Bill Gaither on Nevertheless will make you long for the old barber shop quartets. And I will take Joyce Martin Sanders over Bille Holiday, Ella Fitgerald or Doris Day, singing with Mark on "Our Love is Here To Stay" anyday. My favorite collaboration however, is Mark singing "What a Wonderful World" with his longtime friend and musical genius, Michael English. It doesn't get much better!!! Throw in the multi-talented Kevin Williams, who produced the project, and you have one of the BEST projects Mark has done in his 40+ years in the music industry.
Mark ends "Unforgettable Classics" with my favorite love song of all-time, the beautiful "I'll Be Seeing You" by Sammy Fain and Irving Kahil. This 1938 standard became the Anthem of World War II as all our boys were going off to war.
Ill be seeing you;In all the old, familiar places;
That this heart of mine embraces;All day through.
In that small cafe;The park across the way;
The children's carousel;The chestnut tree;The wishing well.
Ill be seeing you;In every lovely, summers day;
And everything that's bright and gay;Ill always think of you that way;
Ill find you in the morning sun;And when the night is new;
Ill be looking at the moon; But I'll be seeing you.
What a wonderful way for Mark to end his "bucket list" project. Here's hoping that Mark has more music projects on that bucket list of his and that this is far from the end!!!
