Practical applications, theological foundations, and valuable information for the student beginning a future in youth ministry Based on the author's decades of experience as a youth pastor and professor, this foundational text deals not just with the how's of youth ministry, but also the who, what, and whys. This Way to Youth Ministry contains essays that are focused in specialty areas by respected leaders in the youth ministry field. Onepage devotionals designed to minister to students as they deal with issues raised in the text appear at appropriate places in the book. Other features include profiles of youth workers around the world, and a description of varieties of ministries within the profession. Special attention is given to six skill areas: time management, the basic tenets of incarnational ministry, developing a ministry team, planning a ministry event, the principle of communication and its implications for youth ministry, and creative techniques and program design. A Companion Guide is also available, edited by respected veteran of youth ministry education, Len Kageler. It is designed to give "legs" to the main text, presenting essays by working youth leaders and application points to themes in the main text.
