A talking, musical scroll, a pigeon-flying-and-camel-driving mouse, a writing cat, a courageous lamb and two lion-fighting dogs provide non-stop action in this adventure that brings the Christmas story to life as never before. You will be astounded at the accuracy and perfection of the prophecies and God’s unfolding plan to bring Jesus into the world.
The seven hundred-year mission begins long before the Nativity, as animal friends Max, Liz, Al, Kate and Nigel work with Isaiah, who prophesies about the coming Messiah. The team intervenes with the Assyrians that threaten to take Jerusalem and prove Isaiah’s prophecies false. They go with faithful Daniel and friends into the Babylonian captivity for the heart-pounding thrills of the fiery furnace and the lions’ den. They meet Gabriel as he appears to Daniel, and hide a secret scroll of prophecy for the wise men to someday discover as they study the Star.
The Prophet, the Shepherd & the Star climaxes with the unfolding Christmas story as the animals once again see Gabriel with Zechariah, Mary, Joseph and the shepherds. The shepherds and the wise men never know that their steps are guided by these small animals that lead them to baby Jesus.

- Absolutely amazing! by Grace on 7/25/2013
I loved this book! It gave me a unique perceptive on Isaiah. It also revealed to me just how wonderful and deep God's love and plans are for me and the world. I liked the way Mrs. Cote portrays Mary in this story. It had some interesting theological ideas that made me really think but that I found I agreed with and matched Scipture. Her writing style was fun. She covered a lot of history yet it was pleasant and the story never dragged for me. (For those of you like me who adore romance, there is a sweet romance between the four animal couples that is tasteful and cute even though they are already married.) After reading her two other books before this one, I knew I trusted her to give me a fun, inspirational , thoughtful story and she definitely didn't disappoint. So what are you waiting for? Read this story, fall in love with her characters, be reminded of how good God is and how wonderful his book is, and be ready to embrace a hope that this world so desperately needs and we forget we have.
- This is a wonderful book! by mommahealth on 7/25/2013
I am a homeschooling mom of 4 and always on the lookout for richly-written, age appropriate literature, particularly for my 10 and 9 year old. This book (in fact the whole series) is wonderful! My children have thoroughly enjoyed and related to the characters and have loved hearing these events from the Bible from a different perspective.
- The Prophet, The Shepherd, and The Star by Angel 18 on 7/25/2013
I am a huge fan of all of Jenny L. Cote's books, and when I get ahold of one, I have a hard time putting it down!!! The Prophet, The Shepherd, and The Star was fun to read. I especially liked all the times the number seven turned up in the story. I never realized the importance of certain numbers in the Bible until I read this book. Buy it; you won't regret it.
- Wonderful! by Sandra on 7/12/2013
I am touched by all the books by Jenny Cote. Jenny brings the word of God to children in such a way that is readable and exciting, engaging young readers the whole way through. She combines Biblical history with fictional accounts to create a masterpiece (and not just for children). Jenny is so talented! I can't wait for the next one to be released!
