It was very predictable and a bit unrealistic by Angie on 12/21/2015

I wanted to like this movie – I really did but I must say that I did not enjoy watching this movie at all. There were a number of things that I did not like about it. I expected more from this movie – it’s sad to say but it was a disappointment.

I found The Messenger's Box to be very cheesy with sub-par acting which honestly was distracting. I was unhappy with the plot of this movie as well. It was very predictable and I feel a bit unrealistic.

The main characters are in high school so I’d say the target audience for this movie is teenagers. But I think this movie is watchable for any age set. It is a clean movie that the entire family could watch.

This movie does touch a bit on bullying but its main message is about miracles and forgiving your enemies. The focus of the movie is of course on this “divine” box that the main character, Jake, finds in his grandfather’s antique store.

I feel this movie got very lost within itself. The focus of the movie is completely on this divine/ “magical” box. It could come off to many teenagers as confusing, not relatable, and very unrealistic.

Great movie for all ages by Hadley on 12/11/2015

Bought this movie from my local Family Christian store because I was just looking for something new. Absolutely loved it! I will be going back to buy a couple copies for my nieces and nephews for Christmas. The main characters in the movie are high schoolers and I think the movie is perfect for that age group because they can relate most, however it is definitely enjoyable for all ages.

An appropriate movie that the family can enjoy together or that kids can enjoy with their friends. Loved that there were no "cheesy" elements to it.

This movie shows that even at shaky times you can renew your faith. The movie also gives a message of hope and friendship and shows the power of miracles.

Wanted to like this one more... by Leah(lcourtneymom) on 12/2/2015

I had a hard time really liking this DVD. There were a few things about it that were really good, and I wanted to like it even more, but there were some elements that really prevented me from enjoying it.

I liked the idea behind the movie. The concept was good. I liked the plot of this special box with a mystery that the characters were trying to figure out. I liked the idea of a look at Bible times woven in with the present day time of the DVD setting.

My main concern with the story line is that the focus seemed to be on this special box as an almost magical symbol. Although the flashes that the main character sees when he opens the box are of Christ and his crucifixion, the viewer doesn't learn much at all about Christ on any deeper level. There is a little explanation from a pastor but not much else. The climatic moment at the end seems to use the box as a magical element, not focus on Christ as the source of power. Even at the end when the main character sums up what has been learned he refers to the power inside the box but doesn't very clearly offer an explanation.

Other than this concern, there were a few elements of the story that seemed rather choppy and unbelievable. But the overall movie might have been okay without the issue of a vague understanding of Christ and His power.

The movie is family-friendly. It's a clean movie that can be watched by the whole family, although young ones may not understand the story line.

Wonderful family and faith film! by Tricia on 11/24/2015

Want a great new family favorite that reminds you of how much Christ loves you? This is the one! This would also be a perfect movie to give to a friend or family member. It'll be well received. The actors are fantastic. I adore the scenes that flash back when the box is opened.
