- Down-to-Earth Resource About Marriage fro Men by Erica from Healthy Christian Mom on 10/26/2015
I volunteered to receive a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
The great cover and the catchy title will definitely make you pick up this book but the content will keep you from putting it down.
This book is a down-to-earth approach message to men explaining how to be godly husbands. There are chapters on listening, talking, fighting (yes fighting), growing, providing, resting, serving, submitting, pursuing and worshiping.
The best thing about this book is that is does not make marriage out to be a picture perfect fantasy land. It discusses real marriage issues with actionable ways to approach these issues.
The books ends each chapter with 5 good questions for men to start conversations with their wives regarding the topic for that chapter. In addition to the questions, there are encouraging quotes from the book that are highlighted in quotes circles. Two of my favorite quotes from the book are:
“Winning one argument is not winning is you lose any part of your wife’s heart” and “To be a husband is to cultivate the soil of your wife’s heart, drawing out and contributing to her beauty and goodness.”
Both of these are important for husbands to understand.
I have already recommended this books to 2 of the men in the young adult Sunday School class that I teach. They are both engaged and I think it is good to have a marriage book written for men about women.
- A tangible hands-on guide to marriage for men. by Alana on 10/14/2015
First off this book is attractive and will make you want to pick it up, with the bearded silhouette and masculine graphics, to the colors and wording on the cover, this book looks like a fun and interesting read. When you dig deeper past the great cover you will find a very easy to read book full of great wisdom about marriage. The book does a great job helping men understand a woman's emotions and thought process. They give you great advice on how to approach subjects and problems couples my struggle with, and give suggestions on how to discuss those issues. At the end of each chapter there are reflection questions that really get you thinking outside of the box and about your marriage. Another great feature is the "ask her" sections throughout the book. The book asks the questions wives everywhere are begging their husbands to ask. This book is a great resource for marriage as well as a great conversation starter. I recommend this book new marriages, or marriages that are 50 years strong.
