I gave this to my dd on her 13th birthday and she was thrilled with it, until she tried it on. It is too small, very dissappointed that it doesn't come in larger sizes. I would never give a 13yr old a ring of real gold and diamonds, even if I could afford it. Maybe for a graduation gift. I think it was wonderful that they made a special gift that most people could afford.

It is not the cost of the ring that is important but what it stands for. Maybe you need to watch the movie again to understand this concept.

I as a widow... gave all I had. It was not worth much but the sacrifice was great and my heart was giving out of love not obligation. So whether the ring is gold or sterling silver, diamonds or imataion... what matters to the child is did you make a sacriface (or was it just an easy purchase with money readliy avalible. Was this ring from a heart of great love, and concern; one that sincerely follows the Lords ways and wants the very best for his daughter.
I have seen many of people with easy access of money buy there kids all sorts of expensive gives and truly it does not matter that you spent a huge amount on a ring - what matters is truly important to the father (so much so that he scrapes and scarfaces greatly to show the importance of this event.
I know with my kids it was not the cost (or whether it was real) but that it was a rare and sacrificial gift from his heart.

This ring is a cheap copy of a very special ring. The ring seen in the movie Courageous was real solid gold and real diamonds. Truly a sacrificial gift of very high quality. It is sad when you see cheap knock offs trying to cash in on the movie's success.
