I am saddened to see other Christians questioning the band's morals, views or choice of music. As a Christian the lyrics are CLEARLY about our relationship with God through Christ and the struggles we go through in trying to live that life out on a daily basis. I personally believe that this is one of the cornerstones of evangelism - to meet people where they are. I personally know people who have come to Christ through hearing music from bands just like this - and I'm sure that there are those who have because of Skillet. 22 out of 38 visitors found this review helpful. Did you find this review helpful? I recently heard skillet's music for the first time at a concert and absolutely love this cd. As a teenage Christian, I am thrilled that there is music like this on the market that is clean and speaks about our relationships with God.Though most of the songs do not mention God directly, they are written about our relationship with him. A couple of the songs are about other personal relationships such as dating and death and put them in a Christian light. It's true that some of the songs could be interperated to be about human relationships, but aren't our human relationships supposed to be a model of God's love for us and our personal realtionship with him? As a song writer myself, my most recent song was about a person torn between going her way or following God; it never mentioned God's name directly either. It is all in the interpretation. This is an amazing CD and I would recommend it to everyone who likes this style of music. 17 out of 34 visitors found this review helpful. Did you find this review helpful? I have recently re dedicated my life to the lord. I have been sampling lots of christian music. I have to say that skillets new album does not talk about nor glorify GOD at all. When you read there web sites they talk about some of the albums biggest influences being,"ACDC" and "Metalica" I remember hearing that the love of money is the root to all evil. They have went for the money and turned their backs on GOD ! In the process they will lead millions of un sure listeners away from GOD as well ! 128 out of 272 visitors found this review helpful. Did you find this review helpful? I have never listened to Skillet before this CD. My friend suggested them to me, because I was looking for some new Christian music to listen to. From the moment I started listening to them I loved them. This CD relates to my life so much. I know some people were looking for a praise and/or worship CD and said that they were disappointed, but from a newer Christian's perspective I found this CD to be a help in my Christian life. Yes, some songs aren't really about God Himself, but every Christian struggles in this world with love and other things. As a song writer myself I know what that is like. A lot of my songs that I write are influenced from my life, and love is just a natural part of that. It when we turn to the world for comfort and not to God thats when the motives for love are wrong. If you're looking for a CD to relate to as a child of God who struggles in their everyday life in this world and knows that you need God to help you and guide you through your life, this is the CD for you. I suggest you listen to "Hero", "Awake and Alive", and "Monster" first. Those songs set the mood for this CD. Enjoy listening! 134 out of 261 visitors found this review helpful. Did you find this review helpful? While many have claimed that "Awake is "sub par to comatose" or "to mainstream" for a Christian rock band I personally found great help in the album and encouragement in my spiritual life and every bit as good as Comatose. "Songs like Hero" and Forgiven seem to cry out for our need for a God both in the understanding that we are forgiven and that we need a hero in God. "Awake and alive" which sounds like something off comatose and rocks like nothing else is sure to be a fan favorite, the song is all about not giving in to the world and living for God. One of Skillet's best songs ever it features one epic guitar solo and some excellent vocals. "Songs like "Monster", "Sometimes" and "Never Surrender deal with self worth and our the acknowledgement of our flaws and hint that there is hope, especially with "Never Surrender" which is a cry out to God for help and runs in the vein of "The Last Night." It's not me it's you" is all about getting rid of a negative influence in your life and is a real rocker; the negative influence is unspecified which means the individual can decide who it's about. Personally I listen to it when I struggle with self worth. Ballads like "Don't wake me" and "Lucy" deal with loss and both brought a tear to my eye as I listened to them, they helped me through the loss of a family member who died not long after I got the album. "Should've when you Could've" while probably the least spiritual song on the record is an great song, it's about dating and gives me encouragement to wait for the right girl and not settle for someone who might not be who god would want for me. The final two songs "One day to Late" and "Believe" both talk about how we live and what we believe, "One day too late” being my favorite as it talks about not wasting your life. All in all the album is at least equal with Comatose and to me sounds better with songs that are much more applicable to my life. The album is diverse and is musically and lyrically strong. While sounding more mainstream and attracting more of a mainstream audience the album is filled with hope and applicable messages that encourage. Defiantly Buy it. 188 out of 365 visitors found this review helpful. Did you find this review helpful? Other titles by Skillet
