There are plenty of females who are still acting like a spoiled puppy, even though they have all the material things life can offer, yet they are not satisfied. One reader suggested that the movie protrays that once you become a Christian your problems are solved, I suggest they go back and review the movie, because the wife had gotten worse once he decided to take his father's advice and do the 40 day challenge. Things didn't work out ASAP for him it took time. The hardest true facts about it is that being a child of GOD even when you find yourselve in unfavorable circumstances how many of us will still stand and keep our eye on GOD and not let our circumstances stop or hinder us. This guy kept doing what the planner said for each day even though the wife was being a true pharoah!!!! It's not easy 'remaining" humble when you have to deal with a JEZEBEL, but at the same time it allows you to know where you are in GOD! 3 out of 6 visitors found this review helpful. That was not even close to the movie's message for the audiance, but I'm sure there were a number of nonbelivers who wanted that message to be taken hoome by the masses. The message was that you both must have unconditional love for each other as Chrsit did for you for you both for your marriage to thrive. Did you find this review helpful? |  Fireproof-not realistic - Sharyn - 8/20/2009Though there were some good ideas in this movie, my husband and I felt they gave the idea that becoming a Christian would solve the problem just because. The fact is that it doesn't remove all the little things in a couples life and certainly not the couple in the story. While seeing or hearing a moving story may help some couples to view their marriage differently for a time, as someone trained in counseling, I do not believe it gave a realistic view of what a couple would experience after having a marriage at the brink of divorce and then becoming Christians would truly experience. They will STILL need to address the very issues that tore them apart and while the husband had used the book to make some changes in his life keeping those changes AND her making changes will be the important issue. While faith is an important part of a marriage, it still requires the couple to both be actively involved in making the marriage work and in dealing with issues and disagreements that come up. I also felt the movie did not really have a lot to offer people who were already Christians and having difficulty in their marriage. It seemed to say, "Become a Christian and your marriage will be just fine." Christians have the same or perhaps worse difficulties than others since Satan is going to try to attack a Christian marriage harder than one that is not between faithful Christian people. 46 out of 109 visitors found this review helpful. Though we’ve only been married for a year and a half, we both forgot the sweeter side of each other and who we truly fell in love with in the first place. This movie touched us both so much that we decided to buy it, along with the book, and agreed to do the “Love Dare” once a year. How simple and true both the book and movie are. We were baptized together two weeks ago, have committed to be more involved with our church, and are on a new level with each other and in our relationship now. We would highly recommend this book to any couple, young or old, new marriage or old marriage, whether you’re having problems or not. It can only benefit you and your relationship.
