90 Minutes in HeavenDon Piper  As he is driving home from a minister's conference, Baptist minister Don Piper collides with a semi-truck that crosses into his lane. He is pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, Piper experiences heaven where he is greeted by those who had influenced him spiritually. He hears beautiful music and feels true peace. Back on earth, a passing minister who had also been at the conference is led to pray for Don even though he knows the man is dead. Piper miraculously comes back to life and the bliss of heaven is replaced by a long and painful recovery.

It makes you think the book is about time spent in Heaven, but in fact that is only a short part of the book at the begining. It's more about the stages of recovery that the author went through after a horrible car accident. The disapointment of being sent back to earth, the intense pain caused by his injuries, the depression he went through during his rehabilation. How his life changed not only physically but mentally as well. I could relate so well to what he has written since going through something similar with a loved one. Every mental battle Don Piper went through, my loved one went through as well. This is a wonderful book. It also shows what compassion we have for each other. I could not put it down as it was so very interesting. I highly recommend this book as it detailed his accident and Heaven. His ministry to others was so rewarding. A SATURDAY of all the days, a day on the weekend when I could have been doing a million other things. And I'm glad I spent most of my day reading this book. I've heard about Lazarus being raised after 4 days in the grave but that was back then. This book shows that God will act if people are willing to be obedient and serve. 90 minutes after his death, Don Piper was revived by the power of the Holy Spirit. This book gives me hope that even among insurmountable pain, one still has faith. Kind of a flash back to how Jesus felt on the cross. This is an inspiring book.
