Jammin to Guitar Praise - Mimi - 12/15/2009
We have Rock Band and use our neighbor's Guitar Hero regularly. I'm not a huge fan of rock/hard rock so the songs aren't really to my liking. On top of that, I have 2 boys (ages 10 and 6) who LOVE these games but the songs aren't appropriate for them.
Along comes Guitar Praise to answer these issues. My boys and I have loved playing this. It streams great on our computer and have run into zero glitches. True, you don't see as many graphics, but none of us seems to care. I'm not paying attention to the people playing in the band. I'm watching the arrows!
The arrows spin at certain points & fly in the air. The marquee lights up more and more as you do well and at the end of the game you see your score. You can purchase a 2nd guitar (which we have) to Duel the guitars.
We've also downloaded songs from the Digital Praise website to add to our music selection, which I LOVE!! If you know Christian music then you'll love the songs by tobyMac, Reliant K, Newsboys, Paul Baloche, David Crowder Band, and Lincoln Brewster. That's just to name a few.
This is an excellent choice instead of the other "secular" games!! And if my dinosaur of a computer can play it, anyone else's should too!

Guitar Praise vs Jamband - Sam - 11/26/2009
I own both so I thought I would give a quick review. Guitar Praise comes with a guitar but costs much more than Jamband which does not come with a guitar. Jamband lets you use your existing guitars and drumsets from the xbox, playstation or Wii!! So you can bargain shop or use your favorite controllers from your consoles. The Guitar Praise controller is ok, not great quality but it works. Both games come with Christian music but I would have to give the definate advantage to Jamband since all of it's songs are from well-known artists and are the original recordings. There are some good songs in Guitar Praise but many seem to be "filler" songs by local bands? The sounds played when the guitar is played is much better with Jamband. You actually feel like you are playing with the band since the guitar sounds are superb while the Guitar Praise sounds are definately not the original music and can sound out of place at times. The gameplay is obviously very important and again, Jamband is the clear winner here. There is so much more you can do like sing, play guitar bass or drums while Guitar Praise is really just a guitar game. Jamband has the edge in cutting edge technology since it supports up to 4 microphones meaning that 4 singers can play at the same time each one with their own real time pitch meter and score. The bass and drum sounds in Jamband are very well done as well. Graphics, again go to Jamband since it actually has some! Guitar Praise has simple background images while Jamband has 3D characters that you can dress up before perfomances as well as really nice 3D sets like churches, auditoriums and even tropical paradise complete with jumping fish and waterfalls! Jamband lets you unlock more clothing options, instruments and places to sing as you progress through the game. Guitar Praise also has unlockables but is much more limited since there are no 3D graphics.
Guitar Praise 2 stars. Jamband 5 stars.

It's OK, better games out there. - Jimmy - 11/6/2009
I purchased the game and expected it to be a Christian version of Guitar Hero. I was wrong. There are no graphics and the gameplay is very bland. The worst part for me is that not only do I not like the music but I actually dislike the selection quite a bit which in combination with the other issues kind of ruin the experience for me.
I also have JAMBAND which I would highly recommend over Guitar Praise. Much better Christian song selection and gameplay. Plus you can sing and play drums too. My Guitar Praise guitar works great with it as well as my rock band drums. So, I'm set!

I was very happy with this product. Although, it kind of seemed like the people who picked the songs dont really listen to stuff like that. It wasn't too well done. And the announcer just needs to be quiet! Half the songs are good, half aren't.

Decent game, ok songs - 3/25/2009
I've played all the standard games like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, etc. so my expectations were a little higher than someone who has never played this type of game before.
My biggest complaints were the lack of visuals (pretty basic/boring interface/artwork) and the songs.
The gameplay is pretty basic. Nothing fancy and if you like pretty backgrounds with cool effects, you won't find them in this game.
The guitar is decent, not bad quality, not great quality.
The songs are not the type of Christian songs I generally listen to so I can't really say that I like many of them a whole lot. There are some good ones and if you like the high energy loud crazy kind of "Christian" music, then you might like the others too. Seems like a lot of them are bands that aren't too well known yet? Certainly not the kind of songs you hear on K-Love! :)
Overall I would say it's a solid game and if you are in the market for this type of game to give it a shot, just set the expectations a bit lower if you are coming from the Rock Band or Guitar Hero type of games.
