I was wrong. There are no graphics and the gameplay is very bland. The worst part for me is that not only do I not like the music but I actually dislike the selection quite a bit which in combination with the other issues kind of ruin the experience for me. I also have JAMBAND which I would highly recommend over Guitar Praise. Much better Christian song selection and gameplay. Plus you can sing and play drums too. My Guitar Praise guitar works great with it as well as my rock band drums. So, I'm set! 6 out of 8 visitors found this review helpful. Although, it kind of seemed like the people who picked the songs dont really listen to stuff like that. It wasn't too well done. And the announcer just needs to be quiet! Did you find this review helpful? | Decent game, ok songs - 3/25/2009I've played all the standard games like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, etc. so my expectations were a little higher than someone who has never played this type of game before. My biggest complaints were the lack of visuals (pretty basic/boring interface/artwork) and the songs. The gameplay is pretty basic. Nothing fancy and if you like pretty backgrounds with cool effects, you won't find them in this game. The guitar is decent, not bad quality, not great quality. The songs are not the type of Christian songs I generally listen to so I can't really say that I like many of them a whole lot. There are some good ones and if you like the high energy loud crazy kind of "Christian" music, then you might like the others too. Seems like a lot of them are bands that aren't too well known yet? Certainly not the kind of songs you hear on K-Love! :) Overall I would say it's a solid game and if you are in the market for this type of game to give it a shot, just set the expectations a bit lower if you are coming from the Rock Band or Guitar Hero type of games. 129 out of 250 visitors found this review helpful. I always said to myself "Wouldn't it be cool if someone invented a Guitar Hero but instead call it "Guitar Praise". I got on to Family Christian Stores and there it was right in front of me I couldn't believe it. I told all my friends and they were like really? I said yes I am gonna get it and so I did. Amazing!!! That's all I can say. Did you find this review helpful? | Solid Rock, Solid Game - Taylor (Racine, WI) - 2/16/2009After being enticed by several department store 'demos', a friend's copy of the game, and a 'Battle of the Bands' at my youth group retreat, I was entirely hooked on the prospect of Guitar Hero/Rock Band/etc., but couldn't bring myself to shell out the cash to buy the game because of all the objectionable elements in it. So I was absolutely thrilled when Digital Praise announced plans to release Guitar Praise, a Christian guitar hero. But beyond my own initial excitement, I should probably tell you exactly what you're buying. In this game, you get a guitar controller, much like the controllers in Guitar Hero and Rock Band, which has a strum bar, a whammy bar (which I still haven't exactly mastered yet), and five colored buttons at the top of the guitar neck. Notes come down your screen and when they enter a specific zone, you hit the correctly colored button and strum the bar simultaneously, simulating the real playing of the guitar. The music is composed of master recordings of various popular Christian artists, of varying genres and even time periods (I didn't even KNOW they had 80's Christian hair bands!). So how does it stack up next to Guitar Hero? Well, I've probably logged over twenty hours of play over the last half-month, and everything's holding up quite nicely, so the quality of the manufacturing as well as the fun-ness (not actually a word) speaks for itself. The quality of play, however, is also good. I had some hardcore Guitar Hero Expert-Level players come over for a party at my house recently and they loved the game too, getting to play along to their favorite bands. They didn't have any trouble adapting to the game, and found it just as fun as Guitar Hero or Rock Band. (In fact, the next day one of them was asking me where HE could get a copy of Guitar Praise) The audio quality is great, though occasionally the overlaid guitar sound effects (on a few songs, they have you play the guitar OVER the master song) are a bit distracting. The graphical quality isn't incredible, but it doesn't have to be -- you're going to be focusing on the notes coming down your screen over 90% of the time. I don't know why people are complaining about the 'low quality graphics' -- the background graphics are far from the forefront of the game, and those 'high quality' graphics have nothing of high quality to look at (half-naked women, a level in Hell... not stuff I want to be looking at!). This is an absolutely amazing game. The folks at Digital Praise have done a fantastic job in creating it, and I would definitely recommend anybody considering this game to add it to their collection. 192 out of 348 visitors found this review helpful.
