Jars of Clay-self titled. First release on a major label - 1/16/2008
Later albums never quite reached the blend of meloncholy meditations(Boy on a String), reflections on individuality and society(Blind, Art In Me) and upbeat alternative rock(Love Song for a Savior) that Jars of Clay's first self-titled album achieved. If you've only heard later Jars of Clay, you will absolutely love this album. Violins, soft vocals and guitar and minimal mixing maximize the soothing sounds of this album. At Soulfest 2004, in NH, Jars of Clay played a song from this album. As the rain poured down, they strummed out the first few chords of "Flood:" "Rain, rain on my face, hasn't stopped raining for days...the world is a flood.....Lift me up when I'm drowning..." The crowd roared, but Flood was never better than when played from the CD. The album has songs for sad times. For happy times. For good times. For bad times. I would admonish you to purchase this album today. You will not regret it.
