- Revolutionary for me by Jessica on 3/30/2015
I am still working through this book, but it has revolutionized how I look at my quiet times with God and Bible reading. Things like changing our outlook on Bible reading- making it our "top priority to listen to God relationally rather than seeking only to learn more about God cognitively...Rather than rushing on to the next chapter so that we can complete a reading or study assignment, we stay in the place where God is speaking to us, contemplating its meaning for our life and for our relationship." Funny how it doesn't seem all that crazy new, but to this over achieving good girl, it was just what I needed to hear. There is so much more, but you should check it out for yourself.
You can read one of these chapters and work on that particular 'discipline' for a week or for a month. I am going through it with one of my mentors and I'm loving it. Currently reading the chapter on Sabbath and I'm definitely being challenged in that area. The thing I think I love most about this book is that it doesn't just say what you should do...it gives you steps on how to do it.
