- Awesome gift by LambFan on 9/13/13
For many years now, I have purchased these lambs as newborn or shower gifts for every baby I know (for friends, relatives, co-workers, church friends, etc.). Every single time, the parent comes back and says, "out of all the toys and stuffed animals my baby has, this is their favorite." I believe that is no accident. The lambs play "Jesus Loves Me" and there is no better message to share with a child than that. A couple of years ago, I had trouble finding them and was told they were being discontinued. You can imagine my horror as I thought the best gift in the world was going away. I wrote the company and told them what I do with them (my little ministry I call it). I don't know if it had any effect or not, but I do see them advertised and available again.
They have gotten a little pricier over the years (went from $9.99 when I started buying them to $14.99 now), but it's the most worthwhile gift. Recently, I gave one to an adult friend in her last stages of life and she held on to it like she was a little girl again, anticipating her meeting with Jesus...just a beautiful scene to watch. Against my husband's advice, I also gave one to a friend in the hospital just a few weeks ago who was diagnosed with cancer. My husband said, "it's a baby gift...don't give her that!" But, like my other friend, she held on to that lamb and smiled that beautiful smile of hers, and loved on it like it was the best thing in the world. When you see something like that, there is no price-tag that can compare. My heart just jumped for joy to be able to bring a smile to a friend in need. My husband was with me and said, "I told her not to give that to you and I'm so glad she didn't listen." Message: Always trust the wife with gift-giving. With me, I consider it a God-given gift to be an ultimate gift-giver. He has blessed with an ability to give the right gift at the right time (in almost all situations), even when others think the gift is not right. I thank Him for that because when He lays it on my heart to give a particular gift, even when I myself may not think it's quite right, it always turns out to be perfect. I absolutely love giving gifts and you will too when you see the reaction that people of all ages have to these little lambs. My husband gave one away this morning to a co-worker who's expecting a baby in a couple of weeks. Every person in the room "cooed" and "awed" over it. FCS--you have a hit...don't ever stop making these adorable lambs!
