Excellent Suspense Novel!! by Giveaway Lady on 1/10/2014

Lynette Eason is one of my favorite suspense authors. So when I heard about her new series, I knew I had to get it. Imagine my enjoyment when it came up for review!! And let me tell you, this one is probably going in my top three, definitely top five this year. The opener just grabs you and you can't stop until the end.

Summer wakes up one morning to find out that her husband didn't come home the night before, and there is a strange man who is threatening her. And this man says her husband isn't who she thinks. Summer doesn't want to believe him. Her husband told her the one thing he would never do is lie to her. Can she trust him? Who really is the man she married?

This is a book that I think would be great turned into a film. There is a ton of action, adventure, mystery and even a little bit of romance. I felt so strongly for David/Kyle. I saw Summer's point of view but I could see where David was coming from. And no, I haven't been in that situation before so I don't know how I would respond. I like how you see the varying emotions from all the characters. Summer going from disbelief to anger and then just not facing things. David is the strong one throughout it, even though he hurts for his wife and he knows that it will take a while to gain back her trust, if it will ever happen.

Again, lots of great action and adventure throughout the book. You will keep flipping pages pages to get to the end and then you feel dropped! Can't wait for the next title in the series to release. Hopefully we get to see more of David's buddies. I loved his military friends:) If you like action, this is a must read. Even if you don't like adventure, I would urge you to take a chance and read it. You just might find yourself liking it. lol!

I received a copy from Revell for my review purposes. All thoughts are 1005 mine.

Hard to Believe by Smiling Sally on 1/6/2014

In this Christian fiction romantic suspense story, the good guys are not always to be trusted. On the other hand, the bad guys are truly awful. One even uses snakes to torture his victims!

The story surrounds Summer and Kyle, a young couple who find themselves living a nightmare, while being pursued by the Mafia. From the first page, the fast pace is set, and the reader will find the pages almost flipping by themselves.

I had a hard time believing this intricate plot. So many twists and turns made the chase become tiring.

Thank you to Revell Books, a division of Baker Publishing for my copy.

Do Not Lie by Maureen on 1/6/2014

Almost from page one to the very last page of this book your gripped with anxiety. Where evil has a steady hand and looks like it is going to win, and no one is safe. Everyone it seems is open to corruption, even the innocent.
Summer Abernathy awakes one morning, not to find her husband in her bed, but thugs in the room. What a start to a story! We learn right from the beginning that Summer had adult responsibilities as a child, and her one commitment to her husband was "never to lie". Something he has been doing since they met. Oh what a tangled web we weave!!
She married Kyle, now David...huh? Oh you are in for an adventure, unfortunately it seems so real, and probably could be true. Wait until you see who some of the betrayers are...so sad, but Summer is a strong Christian, and don't think she would have made it very far without her rock. Seems David has also been led to the Lord, and is now living his faith, albeit a real rough time.
Once you start reading you are going to be hooked, and I can't wait for the next book in this series, due to come out the Fall 2014.

I received this book through Revell Bloggers Tour, and was not required to give a positive review.

Eason successfully weaves valuable Kingdom insights into a suspenseful, action packed story filled with intrigue. by Claudia on 1/5/2014

No One to Trust by Lynette Eason – A Book Review

This was the first book I have read by author Lynette Eason, but I will definitely be reading more. Why, at one particularly tense moment in the story something happened that actually made me jump! I appreciate being drawn into a story so completely, and I appreciate that jarring type of surprise. There were several plot twists that I had not seen coming, events that kept me reading on into the night.

In No One to Trust, book one of The Hidden Identity series, protagonist Summer Abernathy is thrust into the world of organized crime, specifically that of a mafia family led by a true psychopath. Repeatedly betrayed by those who should have her best interest at heart, Summer learns to rely on the One who will never betray. David Hackett struggles with doing the right thing while doing what is necessary to keep himself and his wife alive. His new found faith is fanned into full flame by the winds of adversity. While maintaining focus on the internal and external conflicts in the lives of Summer and David, Eason is able to flesh out the moral conflicts in the lives of her secondary characters as well, and is able to do so without interrupting the smooth flow of the story or sounding preachy. The central themes of No One to Trust appear to be drawn from James 1:2 – 4, persevering through trials to develop spiritual maturity, and Colossians 3:13, forgiving as the Lord forgave you. Eason successfully weaves valuable Kingdom insights into a suspenseful, action packed story filled with intrigue.

This review would not be complete without mention of the antagonist, Alessandro Raimondi, a portrait of pure evil. This character was not your typical mafia don as portrayed in the movies. It was easier to identify him with a psychopath become serial killer, possibly due to his obsession with snakes and the way he used them to inflict terror. Eason’s clearest mental images are drawn around this character, and are the things of which nightmares are made.

The book contained a sneak peak at the first chapter of the second book in the Hidden Identity series, Nowhere to Turn. It would appear Eason’s readers are in for another spine tingling treat, fraught with the pains of broken promises and broken relationships. It does not reveal, however, whether Eason will take advantage of the opportunity provided in the closing chapter of the first book to bring Summer, David and others forward into other books in the series. A reader may only hope.

I have more of Eason’s works waiting for me on my shelves and on my Kindle among the books I’ve collected anticipating more time to read during my retirement. I look forward to immersing myself in her attention grabbing, fast-paced tales of suspense.

Thank you to Revell, the publisher, for sending me a copy of No One to Trust for my honest opinion of the book.
