"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

We hear Jesus's words and want to respond, but so often we're too busy, too anxious, too heavily laden to take hold of His invitation. Mornings with Jesus, an annual, 366-day devotional, will bring you closer to the heart of Jesus. He will comfort you, and you'll experience the delight and challenge of knowing Him and living for Him.

You can read and reflect on one devotion each day that will encourage you to embrace Jesus's love, to lay down your worries and walk with Him, and to focus on Him as Redeemer, Friend, and Faithful One. Lifting up their voices in heartfelt gratitude, ten women, including best-selling authors Tricia Goyer and Cynthia Ruchti, consider the character and teachings of Jesus and share how He enriches and empowers them daily and how He wants to do the same for you.

Every day readers will enjoy a Scripture verse, reflection on Jesus's words, and a "Faith Step" that inspires and challenges.

In just five minutes a day, Mornings with Jesus will help you experience a closer relationship with Jesus. It's full of inspiring and lasting motivation and spiritual nourishment that fill you with hope and direction.

Encouraging, but very basic by Kate on 12/26/2015

Let me start by saying that if you are looking for an encouraging start to your day, something short, light, and familiar, then 'Morning's with Jesus' is your book and here's why:

•The Bible verses are well-known and well-loved. They are encouraging and they are a great way to dip your toe in the faithfully Word each and every morning.

•The Reflections are comfortable. They follow with that day's theme and the tone is reminiscent of talking to a friend. Our ten contributors share personal stories and anecdotes, help you to put yourself in the lives of women in the Bible by really setting the scene as only writers can, and share word of encouragement. As you read, you will definitely feel a sense of comradery. To be honest, to me it felt a bit like all eleven of us were sitting around a kitchen table sipping coffee together and fellowshipping.

•The Faith Steps are very practical. Each is short and simple. Usually only a sentence or two in length and all are very do-able. From prayers to simple good deeds to journaling, they are definitely worth taking the time!

By now I bet you're wondering about that 3 Star review, so let me flesh out my reasoning for you.

1.While encouraging, I found this devotional to be rather flat. I just kept finding myself wanting more! More of God's word, more of His truth, more practical advice, and most of all, more Biblical knowledge.

2.The Bible verses, while encouraging, were very well now. I really was wishing for lesser known verses. I wanted to be surprised, to feel that I learnt something new, and unfortunately I already knew ever verse that was highlighted in this devotional.

3.Though the devotional was well-written, I struggled with the fact that it felt a lot like I was chatting with friends over coffee. The book is titled 'Mornings with Jesus' and I just didn't feel that it lived up to that name. I left each devotion with a strong sense of the author, but not necessarily feeling any closer to the Messiah.

4.I was also looking for more depth than I felt this book gave. I would have loved to see the verse of the day fleshed out or put into context, rather than being used as a diving board to get to a personal anecdote.

5.Where were the men? Now, I do realize that while this devotional was not specifically called a "woman's devotional" the flowers on the front cover do a pretty good job of marketing to our group, but my complaint here goes deeper than that. Whether this devotional was marketed towards women specifically or not, men have an amazing and very different perspective to offer on almost every subject. This is because we think differently. God created us to work in unison and in my opinion every collaborative devotional, whether marketed to men, women, children, teenagers, or Martians, for that matter, should include writings from both the sexes. We really do have a lot to learn from each other.

So, in a nutshell, 'Mornings with Jesus 2016' was just fine. A solid 3 Stars. For the right person, in the right circumstance, it might even be a 5 Star book, but I like a little more substance than I found here. My advice is to know yourself and to know which type of devotional is going to be something that you can stick with every single day because consistency is key and being in the Word, is always a good start to your day!

Great for Daily Encouragement by Marie @spreadingJOY on 12/17/2015

Mornings with Jesus 2016 is a devotional that has 366 devotions that are easy to read, yet filled with promise after promise from God's Word.

Written by Authors you know and love, each devotion takes you to scripture, taking you to God's Word so you can meditate on His thoughts and then there is a quick, easy to read devotion for that scripture. I love that each one is also followed by a "Faith Step" at the end. Think of it, we are refreshing and renewing our hearts but if we never step out with courage in faith then we will always remain right where we are!

This devotional is for anyone who wants some extra time with the Lord in the upcoming year. Yes we are all busy, yes we have crazy schedules but yes, we need more time dwelling on God's precious Word!

You can spend a little time with this devotional or take time to really dig in, the choice is yours.

Everyone needs encouragement. Everyone needs to be reminded of the love God has of them. Everyone needs more of Jesus in their mornings and their day! This devotional will do just that!

Mornings with Jesus just got more precious!

Great Daily Devotional by Laura on 12/13/2015

As I was looking through this book when I first received it, I was thinking to myself, how on earth will I write 200 words on a devotional that I don't want to read ahead because it is a devotional for all of 2016. It goes by months, then it's broken down by day.

Each Day you get 366 Devotionals (2016 is a Leap Year) Each day is broken down by a scripture verse, the devotional, which is each author's personal reflection, then with a Faith Step.

The devotionals are written by 10 amazing authors:

Susanna Foth Aughtmon
Gwen Ford Faulkenberry
Grace Fox
Tricia Goyer
Sharon Hinck
Rebecca Barlow Jordan
Erin Keeley Marshall
Dianne Neal Matthews
Cynthia Ruchti
Suzanne Davenport Tietjen

So I thought that I would take each month, read the first day, the middle and the end. I was so surprised at the depth that one author could go, with one day and one page. Jesus promise is very clear: Peace I leave with you: my peace I give you. I do not ive to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27 NIV) isn't that an incredible promise?

Each devotionals that I have read so far, has that promise in it. These have me so encouraged to read through the devotional through next year..

This devotional can be purchased at Family Christian® Stores, as well as many other Devotionals.
