Review from Rambles of a SAHM by Fitzysmom on 7/14/2015

Fair warning . . . there's a whole lot of cheese dripping from these books. But who doesn't love cheese?!! We have had so much fun with the Laugh Out Loud books at our house. The new Laugh Out Loud Pocket Doodles take that fun to a whole new level.

In this new series of books the zany humor of Rob Elliott mixes with the whimsical doodles of Jonny Hawkins and combine to create hours of fun for kids of all ages. Yes the jokes are silly but that is the total charm of it. We all enjoyed snatching the books up and entertaining our friends and family with these clean jokes.

I have now added them to our car box because they are just perfect for road trips. I also added some colored pencils to use on the doodles. This provided hours of entertainment on our last excursion. The books are small enough that you could easily tuck them in your purse for times when you find yourself waiting at an appointment.

If you have a favorite kiddo in your life you should get them a copy. You won't regret it . . . I promise!

I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

What a wonderful surprise! Good clean fun, entertainment for kids! This book is just the right size to take anywhere anytime. It fits in the palm of my hand, so I know it is easy for a child to carry. All you need is a pencil, but if you want to bring crayons or markers that would be a bonus. I suggest a pencil so if the child wants to “re-do” a part; they can erase and start over.

My mind is spinning with ideas for this book! Great for keeping your children or grandchildren entertained on trips, waiting for appointments, waiting rooms, running errands (which kids hate!), when you are in a meeting with another adult, and there is nothing for the kids to do. The possibilities are endless as there are many times and places you need something for kids to pass the time quietly. I love the fact it is something that will spark imagination and creativity. Better yet it is something OTHER THAN an electronic device. It will also make a wonderful gift, and because of how wholesome the content it can be used for door prizes or gifts in your church!

It is suggested for kids 9 – 12 but I see it working for ages 5 – 80! Children love silly jokes and riddles. This book is packed with 220 of them. Each page shares a riddle/joke. Below it is the answer. There are illustrations that are not completely finished. A suggestion is given on how the child can finish the picture. Be prepared as they will not only want to share their pictures with you but also read you the jokes! For getting a few extra miles out of the book, the children can color the pictures and then save the book to have their very own personalized joke book to enjoy over and over.

This book is designated for girls but boys will enjoy it just as much. Hours of fun and amusement! Buy more than one so the kids can do new illustrations for the jokes. One time around will not be enough!

My daughter LOVES this book! by Michelle on 7/6/2015

Rob Elliott and Revell Publishing have brought us yet another great joke book for kids. There are two editions: Laugh-Out-Loud Pocket Doodles for Boys and Laugh-Out-Loud Pocket Doodles for Girls.

LOL for Boys LOL for Girls

My kids have gotten accustomed to me receiving books in the mail to read and review. So, when a package came with books in it for them, they were beyond excited.

From the moment they tore open the envelope more than a month ago, to as recently as this past weekend, my two have LOVED these books. They have accompanied us on van trips to summer camp, to the grocery store, and they’ve even just sat on the couch together, sharing jokes and making memories.

Each page features a joke, the beginning of an illustration that goes along with the joke, and suggestions on how to finish the illustration. The jokes are clean and in good humor. I had no worries about the content of the jokes and I was perfectly fine with just handing the books over to the kids and letting them go on their merry way.

The best {and worst} thing about these books is that after the 3rd day of the kids reading them to me, I was ready to take them away! :-) I had had enough jokes! BUT, I didn’t do it. I let them continue to ask me, “Mom, what’s the worst thing to leave home without?” To which I replied, “I don’t know.” Then, laughing, they both said in unison, “THIS BOOK!”

We will be taking a road trip at the end of July and I can guarantee you that these books will be packed for the van ride. Even though they’ve read through all of the jokes already, they haven’t completed the illustrations. That will provide for hours of more enjoyment and entertainment.

I would highly recommend these books to all parents of school-age children.

Cute, Purse Size, Entertainment by Seasons of Opportunities on 6/30/2015

Do you know a girl who loves drawing and telling jokes? This little pocket size book is so cute for those little sweeties. With hours of fun doodles to do, and silly jokes to entertain with, girls will love getting one. An example of a page would be:
Q: "How do skunks get in touch with each other?"
A: "They use smell phones"
There is a skunk on the page and the bottom of the page reads: "To whom is the skunk sending a smellfie?"

Each page has a partial picture to finish or add to, along with a joke and a suggestion of something to doodle. This would make a really nice travel book, or maybe even something to keep children busy at a doctor's office or somewhere you would like them to sit quietly, pending they can read and doodle without help. I would say this book is for kids 7-10 as my personal experience is that girls mature quicker than boys. My daughter is 7 and I am sure she will enjoy this book. She loves to doodle.

I received this book from the Revell Blogger Program in exchange for my honest review.

Great Find by Maureen on 6/22/2015

I brought this book along on a road trip and it did not disappoint. Our 8 year old embraced it as quickly as I handed it to her.

The trip passed in a blur and we were treated to her giggles and happy comments as she shared with us. An example she told us…. “What do you call the story of the three little pigs?” Ready for it? “A pig tail!”
Not only will they be telling you the jokes, there is a lot of drawing an coloring involved to keep them busy. What a great find this book was, and such a great way to keep you kids reading and sharing. What an enjoyable time we all shared.

I received this book through Revell Reads Blogger Program and was not required to give a positive review.

Retro Fun for Kids! by Susan on 6/18/2015

What do you do to keep kids occupied on long car trips, or in waiting rooms, or other moments where waiting is required? Sure, I know that these days, most kids have an iPad surgically attached. But, if you're more into charming retro, how about a book? Such is what I found with "Laugh-Out-Loud Pocket Doodles for Girls."

Each page features a joke and a just-begun doodle for girls to complete (although it's billed for girls, the jokes/drawings aren't particularly "girly," and I think boys would enjoy the book just as much -- but yeah, there is a boy's version too). The "pocket" in the title is apt, as this is a small book -- maybe 4"x5". It's just the right size to carry in your purse. Although it's published by a Christian publisher, the only Bible-type reference I noted was one doodle of Noah's Ark.

My piano students have been enjoying looking through it as they wait for lessons. I haven't given them permission to doodle in it ... yet.

If I had one suggestion, it would be to add a spiral binding so the book lies flat and is easier to draw in.
