Loved it! by Belinda on 2/5/2015

I have to start by saying that I think I loved this as much as my kids did! It is packed with really interesting and helpful information. The Buck Denver series is filled with many fun characters and you get to know them all in this DVD. It starts out answering some basic questions, like "What is the Bible?" and "Who wrote the Bible?". It addressed some things that I've wondered about myself, like the age of our planet. It also explained why some denominations have more books of the Bible than others, something I didn't realize.

The video is broken up into short clips ranging from animated clips and puppetry to interviews with real children (one of my faves!) and scenes with the creator of the series, Phil Vischer himself. It's pretty fast paced which is good because it keeps kids interested.

Another thing I loved was how funny parts of the DVD were. I found myself laughing right along with my kids. The show did an excellent job of explaining the events in Genesis in a clear, fun way that kids can understand.

We truly enjoyed this DVD and definitely plan on getting the entire series. In fact, when it was over, my 6-year-old asked me when we could watch the next one. I am truly impressed with this series and am excited to enjoy it right along with my kids. If you're looking for a fun, interesting way to help your kids learn more about the Bible, this is a great choice!

Great for kids and adults by Karen W on 12/26/2014

This is actually my third 'What's In the Bible?' DVD, but I do wish we would have started with this one. The first part of this volume takes a few minutes to introduce us to all the characters in this series. We meet them, learn a little about their personalities, and get a glimpse of the roles they will be playing throughout the series.

We also learn about the history of the Bible in this episode. We learn who wrote it, when it was written, the history of the translations, and more. The background tends to to a little long, but there is a lot of information that sets the tone for the rest of the series.

The second part of this DVD is about Genesis. Genesis is the beginning and we learn about the basis of what is in Genesis. The characters walk us through the main stories and the history of how this book kicks off the entire story that is the Bible.

My kids and I both love Buck Denver and the gang. My kids sing along with the songs that are quickly becoming familiar to them. They laugh at these characters and I love how the episodes are fast paced so they hold the kids' attention.

I also love these DVDs from an adult's perspective. There are jokes that only adults get and I find myself laughing out loud several times during these episodes. But they are also very educational. I have been in church my entire life, yet I have learned a ton of things in this volumne that I had never heard before.

This series has quickly become a favorite for our family and I am looking forward to collecting the entire series. I know both my kids and myself will lean a lot, and get many laughs in the process.

Best Bible Teaching DVDs available today by kccrunch on 1/28/2013

Our family has always enjoyed VeggieTales; however, our kids (ages 3, 5 and 9) love the What's in the Bible DVD series even more. (and their mother and I love the biblical teaching they are getting). Where VeggieTales focuses on individual stories, What's in the Bible provides kids (and adults) with an biblically-sound understanding of the big picture - what the Bible is about, why we have it, how is it relevant to our lives, what is it a signpost for, etc... I've taught Sunday School for both children and adults and this is far and away the best biblical teaching DVD for kids I've ever seen. The characters are wonderful, the substantive content strikes a wonderful balance between being fun/playful and meaningful. Like I said, all of our kids love watching these DVDs and this first one provides an excellent intro into both the Bible and the series. Each DVD essentially contains 2 episodes of What's in the Bible. Buy it, your kids (and you) will love it.
