- Very informative book by Ramona on 12/18/2015
When I first agreed to review this book I really was not sure what to expect. The authors did a fantastic job laying a good foundation as the chapters progressed. They did not just jump into material the lay person may not understand.
Introduction: WOULD MUHAMMAD JOIN ISIS? “Hardly a day goes by without hearing something in the media about ISIS. Almost all that we hear is outrageous and heart-breaking. In recent weeks and months, we have heard about the looting and destruction of antiquities. Statues from the classical period have been smashed, some dating back to the seventh century BC; others have been stolen and sold on the antiquities black market. Not only that, but ancient books and manuscripts have been burned as well. These treasures from the past are irreplaceable. The ISIS vandals know no limits to the crimes against humanity that they are willing to commit.” Okay, I already learned something and I am not even in the first chapter.
The authors continue to educate the reader as to how determined, how wealthy and how violent ISIS is. They will stop at nothing to reach their goal. Their goal is to serve Muhammad and do as he prescribed—a lot of violence and a lot of hate.
Some of the titles of the chapters also really caught my attention. For example:
Chapter 1: American’s Love Chick-fil-A; ISIS loves Death: The Islamic state personifies evil on a scale never seen before.
Chapter 3: A Person of Interest: The life and death of Jesus the Messiah.
Chapter 4: The Dead Rise: The resurrection—a game changer.
Chapter 7: The Qur’an vs. the Gospels—Who’s telling the truth?
Chapter 12: Crimes Against Humanity—The quality of the tree is known by its fruit
One thing that really stood out to me in this book was the promise that we have in Christ. I found it best stated as:
“Allah desires that you die in his name (Qur’an 3:169-70; 9:39; 19:70-72): Yahweh died for you to have an abundant life in his name (John 10:10). The resurrection is a game changer and proves that God is in the business of great comebacks. You might have lost your job—the resurrected Jesus can bring you a new beginning. Perhaps your marriage is in trouble—the resurrection shows us that God loves flawed, ordinary people. Perhaps you have experienced the loss of a loved one or a child. Our family and closest friends who have died as followers of Jesus are more alive today than they ever were on earth. Thanks to the resurrection of Jesus, Christians are promised that the best is yet to come and death is only the beginning, not the end.” Pages 56-57.
Thank you to Mr. Evans and Mr. Johnston for such an informative, honest book.
