- Pummels your heart by SavingsInSeconds.com on 12/6/2015
Prejudice and gossip are bad enough in social circles, but in a small town such issues can be positively devastating. Jaded gives such an accurate description of the small Texas town, Trapp, that you'll start to imagine the characters as people you know. History runs deep in the memory of these characters, and it's with a heavy heart that we get to see how much time has warped those moments. Some of the situations just pummeled my heart; the irony and contrast of haves-and-have-not people in the world is painted in such a vivid picture. If you're looking for a book that stands out from the rest, Jaded is it.
Sometimes Christian fiction can be flat and predictable. In the case of Jaded, the genre becomes dimensional and even prickly. I could easily see Ruthie or JohnScott as movie characters. Put on your sneakers before reading Jaded. So many situations involve jumping to conclusions. I look forward to more books from Varina Denman.
I received this book from Family Christian; opinions shared are mine.
