- Girl: n. What God Made Me! by Lilliette on 5/25/2016
Girl Defined is a triumphant testimony of Godly womanhood and what it means to be a woman. In a time when so many are confused about the purpose of being a girl, the definition provided by Kristen and Bethany is both practical and encouraging. My favorite part of the book is the worksheet at the end of each chapter. I love the way this seems to turn the book into more of a dialogue than a lecture, and it helped me to process what I was thinking about what I read instead of just skimming the top and coming up empty-handed. I strongly encourage you to buy this book because the truths these ladies share will truly refresh your spirit!
- Convicting and Timely For A Broken Generation by Halee on 5/24/2016
When I requested to be a part of the Girl Defined launch team, and be sent their debut book, Girl Defined-God’s Radical Design For Beauty, Femininity and Identity, what I never imagined was that I was going to be deeply convicted. This book was going to transform my false way of thinking, into something beautifully orchestrated by God.
Right from the start Kristen and Bethany set the stage for the deep meaningful things that need to be discussed, with hilarious and embarrassing (but relatable) stories from their past that they’ve learned from. They wrote this book in such a way, that makes you feel like you three are at a coffee shop talking with each other. What I loved so much about the storytelling aspect of the book was that is was fun and lighthearted, while being serious but not dense and boring.
This book is all about God’s design for women’s purpose and identity-and while it’s not popular or praised-it’s life changing.
The topics in this book, they’re not just liberating, they will radically change your life! Kristen and Bethany simply explain controversial topics and leave no room for questioning because they are using biblical truths! They also explain God’s design for the male and female (gender roles are important) which I really enjoyed. I was so deeply convicted when I discovered JUST how much I’ve been affected by the culture, by Satan. I’ve believed the lies of the big-bad checklist and the ‘ideal woman’ being alluring, successful and oh-so-well off. What a tragedy these things have embedded in the lives of millions of girls throughout history! Kristen and Bethany also delve into the meaning of being a “wimpy woman”. One who’s quick to comprise and too shameful to stand up for what’s right. They talk about being bold with God’s design and not giving in to what is “normal”. With all the latest trends and what’s “in”, isn’t it all just chasing after wind anyway?
I HIGHLY recommend this for ANY girl, at ANY stage of life, ANY age, coming from WHATEVER background, because I KNOW for a fact this book will be change your life for the good/forever.
-By His Grace,
- This book will challenge you in magnificent ways! by CFreeman on 5/23/2016
This book was incredible! There were days I would read three chapters at a time, because I just couldn't put it down. My heart and mind were being challenged in ways I have not been challenged in a long time. The way the book is written was like you were just over to the authors' house having a sleep over with your best friends. They were so real and so transparent that you couldn't help but admire them and listen to everything they were saying and take it to heart.
Now I'm going to be brutally honest...I have read a dozen books about biblical womanhood, so honestly didn't think I'd learn a lot. The minute I got to the second chapter, I was jotting down notes and underlining things like I have never done. I was being convicted of not truly appreciating my womanhood. I was being challenged to make a change in myself and do a study with some of my closest friends...and then a small group with my church. I was brought to tears with some of the truths that were written out in the book, because for so long, I thought I was the only one who felt a certain way. I was asking God for forgiveness for not truly understanding why he created woman and not putting my value in Him.
This book needs to be in the hands of every teen girl (16 years and up), young single women, and married women. Every woman will walk away from this book feeling more confident in herself, more challenged to stand up for womanhood, and ready to be used by God.
It has changed my perspective on who I am as a woman and what I want to become, and will read this book again and again, until I can be a Kristen and Bethany to other girls.
- Life-changing Book!! by Haley on 5/22/2016
Femininity, beauty, and identity. The three most sought-after definitions by women through the years, especially in this day and age. In a world where the ungodly culture thrusts its own versions and variations of these three essentials of womanhood upon the ladies of the day, this book is a radical refresher.
Kristen and Bethany cut to the heart of what it really means to be a girl defined by God. I have read lots of books on womanhood; I've done my own studies, but never have I come across a book that met me on a personal level like this one. With breath-taking honesty, these ladies share their own journey of discovering God's definition of what a true woman is.
I found the writing style wonderfully personable and easy to digest. At the end of each chapter is a study of what you have previously learned enabling you to dig deep inside your own heart and help you identify lies and misconceptions. Both the book and the study challenged me in a way that made me search my own heart and realize I was believing some lies too! I thought I'd learned it all. ;)
Having read this book I am now more grounded in my role of a woman and who I am in Christ.
I highly recommend all women and young ladies, single or married, to grab your own copy and start reading! It is life-changing and will strengthen your walk with Christ.
- A powerful and timely message! by Sonia on 5/21/2016
"God's Radical Design for Beauty, Femininity, and Identity." I'm thankful for these two sisters to write passionately about God's purpose for us as women in this generation of feminism, and gender confusion.
I love how this book has spoken out everything I've been striving to live for myself these past few years, yet still challenges me to go beyond what I am right now and become a strong woman spiritually.
They explore subjects, such as, "Femininity Gone Wrong", "Getting Back to God's Design", "Femininity Worth Fighting For", and more. They've read and studied some of my own heroes of the faith (Elisabeth Elliot, Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth). This book will definitely challenge you to look deeper into God's Word about our purpose instead of falling for the deceits and lies of what the world tries to describe as our purpose. It even includes a Study Guide after each chapter making it easier for you to study out the topic for yourself.
I'd recommend this book for anyone in any stage of life (single, married, widowed, etc). Grab a copy for yourself, your best friend, your daughter, and realize your true beauty together.

- So so good! by Tiffani on 5/21/2016
This book has to be one of my favorites! From the first chapter I was captivated and a desire grew to not just become a woman of God, but become exactly what God defined a girl to be! I can't encourage this book enough!
- Inspiring and Challenging by DanielleEmmajean on 5/21/2016
I absolutely love this book! It is truly inspiring. I definitely recommend it for any teen girl or lady. I am 27 years old and married and was challenged by this book. I am truly thankful for Kristen and Bethany's love for God and their honesty. This world we live in is going crazy and what they have written in this book is exactly what Christian young ladies and older ladies need to read. We need more Christian ladies to take a stand for God and to be a woman defined by God. This book is such a help in challenging us to be just that! I couldn't stop underlining and I enjoyed reading every chapter. It is very easy to read and I love the review at the end of each chapter. You will not regret purchasing this book and reading it. More than ever we need Christian women to take a stand and to not be afraid to live their womanhood defined by God. We especially need Christian teen girls to carry the torch for their generation- I recommend you to read this book and to be challenged- you will not be able to put it down!
- Getting Back to Biblical Womanhood by Caitlyn on 5/21/2016
In a day and age where the world is constantly telling us what we need to look like in order to be accepted in who we are as women, Girl Defined brings light and truth to what it means to be able to live as a women of God. We are women whose identity and femininity is rooted and grounded in Christ. No one can change that! These sisters tackle the hard questions like, “What is Biblical womanhood? “and “How do I become the feminine woman the Lord created me to be?”. This book challenged me to not compare myself with the world’s standards of what femininity looks like and to place my value and worth in the Lord. Every women will be encouraged and inspired to continue their journey towards biblical womanhood and femininity as you dive deeper into each chapter of the book
- Biblical Womanhood by Monica on 5/18/2016
In a world sin-scarred, broken, and suffering from the powerful effects of our fallen nature, this book was truly refreshing and a delight to read. Girl Defined is packed with solid truth, the perfect length, and is an enjoyable read. Sensitive and intimate issues that are covered are not pervasive and always delivered tastefully and with solid biblical references. This book is well-researched, strongly based on biblical truth, and is pertinent for the world in which we now find ourselves. From the very beginning, Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird share from their own personal experiences and offer you glimpses into their lives, complete with their own journey into the modeling world.
The book is divided into 5 parts beginning with a clear explanation of why this book and topic of biblical womanhood is so relevant for today. They dissect the idea of “counterfeit femininity” (which the current media-driven culture so readily adheres to) and demonstrate how this idea is actually leaving more women hurting and searching for meaning and value. In the following sections of the book, they explain in detail how women can aim for God’s plan and learn to truly understand and appreciate our gender. They discuss the pillars of biblical womanhood and then offer testimonies of how we can apply these truths in our lives no matter what moment of life we are in. Once the stage is set, the authors start delivering sensible and practical ways to start incorporating God’s truth about our identity into our daily lives. There is a clear and definite plan of action offered for transforming this from a motivating theme to a real-life application. Checkpoints and study guide questions accompany each chapter of this book providing you an unwavering sense of direction. Now is the perfect time to begin transforming your life according to the standard that never changes…God’s Word. After reading this book, I would describe it in the word “intentional”. God created us intentionally, in His image, and we can live according to His Word and His design and leave behind the emptiness that comes after following the ways of the world.
I would highly recommend this book to young women, especially those in middle adolescence, and for all women, regardless of whether they are married or have children. This book will be a resource for me as my own daughter is coming soon into the teenage years. I would also recommend their website for more information, resources, and timely advice.
- A Woman's Beauty, Success, Value & Worth, this book tells it all! by Tammy on 5/17/2016
This dynamic duo has partnered together to share their heart and radically better vision for girls of today, in the age of a national gender identity crisis. Through the fourteen chapters, Bethany and Kristen interlace their testimonies along with a few other women in varying stages of life, refuting myths about a woman's role in society, our purpose as a woman and ideas of how to leave a lasting legacy that doesn't fade with time. The one common thread they share is at the core, they bought into some of the lies that society has convinced us to believe in the source of our value, what makes a woman beautiful & how we should measure success.

I have followed the GirlDefined blog and website for some time now. I read it for light entertainment and a spiritual boost. I am older and have a family of younger children of my own. I thought I was in a different season of life and was not sure I would gain much for myself, rather I thought I was reading it primarily to share with teens and young adults in my life. WAS I WRONG!?!?! The authors spoke right to my heart, to places I thought were buried away and to baggage I thought I had put by the curb; body image, s-x appeal, career vs SAHM, loss of a child, fear, expectations, success and failures.
The Study Guide at the end of each chapter helps to reflect and remember some of the key ideas and theme discussed. The Bible verses tie the book to the solid foundation set up for women by the Creator. We are valuable and precious. "When forever comes, only the things you did for Christ will truly matter."
