Ernst Wiechert

One of the most widely read German literary figures of the 1930s and 1940s (he wrote 60 books in his 63 years), Ernst Emil Wiechert was thrown into Buchenwald concentration camp for publicly opposing the Nazis. His final novel, Tidings, deals with post-war Germany s guilt, healing, and redemption.
