By allowing God to transform her circumstances, Ruth went from a widow who would be excluded from society to a wife with a secure and protected future, a future that ultimately paved the way for the birth of King David.
Her story is full of collision--loss, heartache, poverty, even shame--but she never let her past define her. Instead, the most painful time of her life became her most pivotal, propelling her to a destiny she'd never imagined.
If disappointments, whether a result of your own choices or the actions of others, have kept you from being your true self, this book is for you. Follow Ruth's life and discover the hope available to each of us. Your yesterday does not have to dictate your tomorrow.

- Hope through Obedience by Jennifer on 9/11/2014
Sarah Jakes does an outstanding job conveying the story of Ruth in her latest book, Colliding with Destiny: Finding Hope in the Legacy of Ruth. I have read the bible story of Ruth several times but Jakes portrays the story in which we can relate to in today's society. In the story of Ruth, she faces numerous obstacles but it is through her obedience to God that she was abundantly blessed. Through the brokeness her destiny was reached that she would later be in the lineage of Christ. Ruth was an overcomer!
Jakes uses the story of Ruth along with her personal story of obstacles and trials such as becoming a mother at the age of 14 and divorce after a few short years. She is the daughter of T.D Jakes, a well known pastor, speaker and author of a large church in Texas. Everything that she has faced, she could have given up or made her own decisions but through her faith and obedience she is an overcomer.
The book was an easy to read and follow along with. I really enjoyed the short chapters that were followed by reflection questions and a short prayer. Jakes was very transparent in sharing her personal experiences that I am sure a lot of people can relate. This book would be great as a small group women's bible study. I would also recommend this book to any woman that is facing obstacles and a season of life in which things just aren't going as planned.
God has a plan and destiny for our life but in order to reach the full blessings we go through trials and obstacles in order to collide with our destiny.

- Don’t settle for Satan’s lies, only believe in God’s best. by BTSCelebs on 9/5/2014
Sarah Jakes’ newest book “Colliding With Destiny” describes the pain of life we all experience and compares it with Ruth’s. We (Christians) try so hard to hide our problems, and settle for less than God’s best because we feel God has forgotten us and we can’t do any better.
In her sophomore project, Sarah tells us to use our past mistakes and setbacks as a testimony to encourage other people. Christians can even use it to encourage themselves to aim for better in their life. Ruth’s husband died, and she devoted her life to taking care of her widowed mother-in-law. Picking up scarps of grain leftover from harvesters led her to meet the landowner, Boaz, which changed her life forever.
“Colliding With Destiny” quotes the book of Ruth and ends each chapter with a prayer to God. Sarah’s purpose for this book is to lead believers to search the scriptures for evidence that their blessed future is coming.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be encouraged. If life has throw you the worst punches possible and you need hope that everything will work out for your good, then Sarah’s book is for you.
