- SO MUCH TO LEARN! by NARITA on 10/14/2014
Most people are curious about Heaven and what eternity will be like, especially after someone they love has gone on. The author does a wonderful job of addressing 50 questions that are usually asked about Heaven. Some of them I hadn’t even thought of.
I liked the way the table of contents had the questions listed so I could go directly to the ones that interested me most right away. It will also make it easier if you want to use the book as a reference. He not only covers what Heaven is, but misconceptions about it too. I was impressed and how well he discussed most of the subjects in just a few pages. Not only was there a lot of scriptural references to back up what he was sharing, but there were even more verses at the end each one for further study and reading. I enjoyed the interesting illustrations, some of them personal ones, that he used throughout the books.
There were only two things that I did not like about the book. One was the many Bible translations he used, 14 to be exact. For me it made answers disjointed and harder to read. I easily remedied that by using my own Bible and looking up each verse, and that definitely wasn’t a bad thing at all! Secondly I felt a few of his answers were more his speculation than Bible truth. In those incidents, the Bible references did not match up with his explanation. All in all, this book was a pleasure to read and made a wonderful Bible Study. I think it would be great to use in teaching a Sunday school class.
I received this book free from Bethany Publishers, which requires an honest, though not necessarily positive, review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
- Heavenly FAQ's by tickmenot on 7/29/2014
This is a book that attempts to answer questions about Heaven. Fifty topics are covered that range from whether or not there will be animals in Heaven, to what we will be doing in Heaven, to the question of near death experiences.
Each query is explored by the author giving his perspective supported by scriptural references. The author also gives interesting examples of the subject from his own life, or from the world. For instance, he addresses how angels are viewed in the popular Christmas movie, It’s a Wonderful Life, and the Biblical viewpoint–and if there is a difference. At the end of each section, more Bible references are given if the reader wants to do further research on a topic.
This book is easy to read, and it is written in an uncomplicated style. The reader can pick out a subject of interest, and find it effortlessly, making it unnecessary to read the entire book to get an answer.
The author is a Bible professor at Moody Bible Institute, and received advanced degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary and Grace Theological Seminary.
The references provided for each question, make it easy to check out if the Bible really agrees with what Dr. Hart writes on a given subject. You may or may not concur with the author’s take on a topic, but his thoughts will provide a jumping off place for further investigation. If you have some questions about Heaven, I would suggest you start with the Bible first. This 5-star book, would be a good additional reference.
The publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book through Bethany House Publishing for the purpose of review. All opinions expressed are my own, and I was not required, or influenced, to give anything but an honest appraisal.
- Wonderfully written and answers we've all been curious about... by ToriPeterson on 6/27/2014
I was drawn to this book by the title. We are all curious about heaven. What it will be like, who will be there, what we will do there, how we get there, what it will look like, etc. The questions are endless. What we sometimes do not realize is that the Bible is filled with many answers to our questions. This book takes those passages and deciphers them into easy to understand explanations.
This book is very easy to read, and very thorough. The author references more than one translation of the Bible, and even gives additional references at the end of each chapter that you can study more in depth on your own if you so choose.
This is a book that you can read cover to cover, or just simply find the question you want answered in the table of contents and read the answer. Of course while this book does not answer all the questions you may have about the Bible it does have fifty which is quite a bit. It also goes to show that the answer to all of our questions are in the Bible waiting for us to find them and decipher them. In the meantime this book is a great starting point for any curious person to gain some answers.
There are a few personal assumptions in this book from the author but for the most part this book stays on track with Scripture. We are all going to make our own assumptions from time to time anyway, and it is always refreshing to hear another person's opinion here and there.
This book is wonderful for many curious individuals which is also a must for a great book. It can apply to Christians, those curious about Christianity, etc.
I loved that I was able to study topics I hadn't even given thought to. Some of the fifty questions I was already curious about while some I hadn't even thought about, and was relieved to see.
The author does not lecture or try to persuade you in anything in this book but rather sticks to what is gained from the Bible. I felt that this is a very well researched, very wonderfully written book good for anyone to read. I recommend it to everyone, and especially the fellow Christians out there such as myself always hungry for more information.

50 Things You Need To Know About HEAVEN
DR. John Hart
This is a book that I felt most of us as God's people or even ones that aren't, have asked these questions about Heaven. Have you? I have more then once. But reading this book and hearing just how DR John Hart wrote it. How he answered the questions and asked questions to make you really think hard and run for the Bible you could have knocked me over with a feather because he really it home. I thought I was so much better then some of the kids that I went to school not because I was smarter just that I never gave anyone a hard time and I tried to be nice to everyone while some kids thought they were so much better then me and kind of snubbed me.
Number one is the one I 'd like to have an answer to--- Who goes to Heaven. How are we really sure? God seems to have reasons for whom he brings into Heaven even murders has gone to heaven but isn't it because they followed Gods orders when he asked them to do something for him?
How about the questions What did Jesus mean about Mansions in Heaven? How about this to ponder on Do people in Heaven know what is happing on earth? Now if these questions don't make you want to run to your Bible to study it nothing will.
There a lot more questions that will just grab you by the shoulder and say hey read on, learn more and get closer to your Lord.
Reading this book will make you stop and really want to get closer to God and learn the true meaning of going to Heaven--
Some choices we make be reversed after we make our decision. I know I have done that and I pray God will forgive me for being yet another stupid human.
Through out this book with each question asked made me stop and realize the sins I committed. Shamed and sadden by what I did I send up prayers for forgiveness to my Heavenly Father.
Can they be altered no but can God forgive me? Will play on my mind forever until I meet God face to face afraid yes I am. I won't lie about it.
After each chapter there's further study on that Question and references where to go in the Bible to learn more on the question.
This book is really an eye opener. This book is really one everyone needs to read,so grab it get a comfortable chair a cup of coffee and settled back enjoy knowing about Heaven in a new way.
I received this wonderful book free from Bethany House for an honest review.I was not required to write a positive review just an honest one. The opinions I have expressed are entirely my own and no one else's.
