Phil grew up with the dream of living the simple life off the land like his forebears - including practicing his passion, duck hunting - but he soon found himself on a path to self-destruction, leasing a bar, drinking too much, fighting and wasting his talents. He almost lost it all until he gave his life to God. And then everything changed.

- shows how God helps us by jason on 8/19/2014
I liked the book because it shows how poor he was at first, than with work he is a millionaire. And it's neat how started the business. And how one of his friends gave him the idea for his new business name. and you see that he loves God in the book, and makes a small mention in it about his second season when John Luke and his girl friend went on the river with him. and he warned him not to do anything to her until they both signed the dotted line, because he could get sick. meaning when they were married. I liked that a lot.
- Fantastic read! by Mel on 11/5/2013
I read this book in just a few days and loved every bit of it! I was a fan of Duck Dynasty before I read it, but this book gave a whole new light to this family. Phil tells it all from childhood to now and doesn't hold back anything. The good, the bad, and the ugly are all included in this story, but God's grace and forgiveness shines through it all. Phil is incredibly honest about his values and beliefs and I respect his transparency through this story. After reading this, I would love to hear Miss Kay's story and how God helped her through those early years with Phil.
- Excellent !! Very Realistic and Inspirational by Gemini on 7/31/2013
I read this book in several days. I couldn't put it down. I am not a fast or avid reader, but I anxiously waited for this book to be released. It is a life story of the Roberston's, that I found I could relate to, an average family, that grew together as a united family and stay true to their values and life styles. I admire this family, for their faith in God, family, and have no problem keeping their stand. In today's world that is an asset, and Phil has certainly got a hold on yesterday's world and today's and continue to instill those values in his kids and grand kids. Very wise man!! Happy! Happy! Happy! is what it is all about.

I really enjoyed getting to know the Robertson family better through Phil's book. I watch the show all the time! Finally a tv show that depicts a wonderful family who love sharing their love of God, on national televsion. If you watch this show, you'll love the book. If you don't watch the show, you'll still love the book, and I highly recommend you check out the show!
