Rating I was skeptical about this CD at first. I got "Draw the Line" when they released it, because I'm a pretty big Disciple fan and I get excited when they come out with new stuff. I've only been around since the "Scars Remain" days, so I was there with the release of "Southern Hospitality" and "Horseshoes and Hand Grenades." I was only impressed with the latter, although I still enjoyed S.H.
Anyway, I liked "Draw the Line" just fine. I knew it was a song with the potential to really get to me, and after listening to it a few times it definitely grew on me. I wasn't aware, at that time, that it was the worst song on the CD. (It's still an amazing song, don't get me wrong, but it's not the best one on that CD.)
Five seconds into the first song, "Outlaws", I had goosebumps. And they never left the entire duration of the CD. It was pure rock, guitar riffing, melody-driven, lyrical awesomeness epicness. I don't even think I can fully comprehend the amazingness of this CD. I've already memorized it.
Stunning lyrics, from "You're more than just a face, more than just a name, more than labels that the hypocrites around you gave" to "So baby let's go dance across the sky tonight, cause no boundary can keep me from your arms tonight", intensely gratifying melt-your-face guitar riffs in any song that isn't slow, melodic choruses that are easy to learn and sing along to... For the first time in a long time, I've been left speechless (although I understand it may not look that way!) I can't even imagine any of these songs not being played live. I feel like it wouldn't be doing them justice to ignore them, because they all demand to be heard.
Well done, Disciple. Well. Done.
