When Max, a Scottish terrier, takes his usual morning trot to the loch one day, he hears a mysterious voice humming in the reeds. "Come to Me," it says. "Follow the fire cloud." He embarks on a strange journey from Scotland, meeting other animals along the way, including Liz, a brilliant petite black cat from France. The mysterious journey leads them across Europe to the Middle East, and is filled with danger, humor, trials and triumphs. At the end of their travels, they find Noah and his family building an ark.

As the animals enter the ark in preparation for the Great Flood, it is magically transformed into the animals' natural habitats. But, as they travel for a year aboard the ark, Liz discovers a stowaway who has deceived them all.

The Ark, the Reed, & the Fire Cloud is the first book in the The Amazing Tales of Max and Liz series, which follows Max and Liz as they journey through biblical to modern times, causing amazing things to happen behind the scenes in human history.

A Great Read for Anyone by Semper Fidelis on 7/30/2013

Jenny Cote is an amazing author, and I’m sure kids and adults of all ages will love all of her books! This is the first book in the series. It’s long, but I finished it in two days because I couldn’t put it down! In this one, Max, Kate, Al, Liz, and two of every kind of animal are on their way to Noah’s Ark. Have you ever wondered how all the animals got to the ark? How did polar bears survive for a year on the same ark as lizards? Jenny Cote answers these questions and more in her creative story about what God could have done to solve these problems. I recommend this book to anyone!

Best Max And Liz Book! by catlover123 on 7/28/2013

This is Ms. Jenny's best book in her series For Sure! Meet Max, the fiery Scottie and his compassionate and caring mate, Kate the Westie. While Max is down at the loch, he hears the reeds whispering, "Come...Come...Come To Me..." and he also spots a cloud, full of fire. Asking his wise friend, Gillamon, he realizes that God is calling him to the Ark! This fire cloud ends up leading him to meet the fat, lovable Irish Tabby cat named Al, who has quite the fear of bumblebees and a passionate love for Liz, the opposite of him. She is sleek, beautiful, and has a love for finer things such as gardening. Al meets her in France and ends up risking his life to marry her. He comes up with an idea to help save many other Ark-going animals and becomes a bit cocky. Then strange things start to happen aboard. Is there a stowaway? And will what saved hundreds of other animals take his? I won't tell the end, but it is good! I recommend this to ages 6-6,000! I only have the options of 5 stars, but I would give it 500 stars! I always heard the story of Noah and the Ark, but this gave the story a sense or depth and realness! My advice to you? Get This Book!
