Teaching Series for Children! by Charity on 1/5/2015

With a family of eight we are always on the lookout for programs that will teach good Biblical lessons. The age ranges in our house go from tween to late teens so what one child finds interesting another looks at as being too childish or immature. Needless to say I have found a DVD series called What's in the Bible that may be for the younger ones, but all the children love watching it:)

This series is really amazing. Not only is it interesting but it literally brings everything down to a lower level where the little ones can understand the timeline of the Bible, history, hard words, etc. Thirteen dvd's that go through everything from Genesis to Revelation and includes all the important events in the Bible. There is music and singing(yes, they sing along:), puppets who talk and teach, and the host Phil Vischer who you might recognize as the creator of Veggie Tales.

This DVD is Volume 10, Jesus is the Good News. You all know what that means?? It is the beginning of the new testament and tells the story of Jesus, John the Baptist, prophecy, etc. I seriously love how in-depth these films are. The puppets ask questions and Phil Vischer answers in story format. Things like the Dead Sea Scrolls and how they came about, Jesus being baptized, being tempted by Satan, etc. Words are brought up that are then explained in detail but on a level everyone can understand. The songs that are included will have your children learning moral lessons to music and if they sing them it will stick in their head for future reference.

This is something I would urge parents, grandparents, librarians, church leadership, etc to look into purchasing. These are excellent for young people and I love how they teach while making it fun.

Biblical truth presented in conversation and song by Lori on 12/15/2014

Laughter abounds while viewing this video. Volume 10 of What's In The Bible includes two, 25-minute episodes in which a whole host of funny, unique puppet friends work together with Phil Vischer (creator of VeggieTales) to discuss the Bible and help the viewer learn about God. Filled with exciting songs and fun rhymes, the kids will thoroughly enjoy this teaching video.

In God's Perfect Timing you travel back through the Old Testament with the characters so that the viewer can understand the relationship between the Old and New Testaments and how the New is a continuation of the story of the Old. The cast teaches about the “fullness of time”, the 400 years between the Old and New Testaments, and how Jesus arrived at God's perfect time in history so that the Good News could be spread around the world, to all who would hear.

The Messiah Has Come teaches about the gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Each of the books has its own unique perspective on the life of Jesus, yet they all work together to teach about our Lord and Savior. In this episode, the viewer will learn about the life of Jesus, his ministry, his death and his resurrection.

These episodes are not your typical animated cartoon. They are a conversation between characters, some of which are puppets. This volume appeared to me to be spot on with the Bible and I appreciated that the viewer was encouraged to talk to a trusted adult who is a believer and understands salvation if there is a question about how to be saved. The viewer will learn a lot about the Bible. Even if you know a lot about this part of the Bible, it may just surprise you how much these characters have to share.

My 3 girls wanted to share some of their thoughts, too.

Age 10:
I really liked how they explained the parts of the Bible and showed the story of Jesus. I liked it a lot except that they talked about it a lot but they didn't act it out. The puppets had very interesting questions and a lot of them made me laugh. I really like it because it was funny. If you didn't know a whole lot about the Bible, this would help with teaching somebody and it would help with getting to know the Bible.

Age 8:
I felt it was honest in how it told about the gospels in the Bible. It explained the Bible in a way that I think that kids that are just learning to read picture books would probably understand it. The puppets were fun and so was the whole show. I would like to see more of these shows and I especially liked the part where it showed how Jesus conquered elements of the earth, like when it said he conquered hunger by providing food with just a few loaves of bread and some fish; like when it showed he conquered death by bringing the girl up from the dead. The shows are fun and I really believe that it can help kids understand the Bible.

Age 5:
I loved the video. The pirate puppet sounded like another character that I really like. I liked the Sunday school teacher puppet because she sounded funny. The video was about the Bible and I learned Jesus prayed in the garden.

So good, I bought the rest of the series! by Katie on 12/12/2014

After reviewing the What's in the Bible Coloring Book, I really wanted to watch one of these videos. We were able to see volume 10 and it is amazing! Not only did my 11 year old learn a lot, but I did as well. The video was full of puppets, music, and learning, but was not too babyish. They don't dumb down the material. I felt that the video was so great that I actually purchased the rest of the series and it is currently under the tree for my little girl.
I reviewed this product for a different company and was not asked to give a review here. you can see my full review at http://daytodayvirtualschooling.blogspot.com/2014/12/whats-in-bible-volume-10-review-giveaway.html

My Review:

The Bible is filled with God's promises and because of Jesus all of God's promises will come true. This is just one of the many things your child will learn as he watches, What's In The Bible: Jesus Is the Good News DVD #10. Jesus singlehandedly can save the world! We learn even more about the order of the gospels and why the book of Matthew was first in the order of the Gospels. Each volume of the What's In The Bible series is an awesome teaching tool for my children. In our homeschool Bible is one of our subjects we need to study and these DVD's are entertaining and thought provoking as wel as providing a deeper knowledge into all things Bible related.

As a parent, I like giving my children an outlet that provides learning but also hold their attention. When they walk away from watching one of these DVD's they always learn something new. My sponsor would like to give one lucky reader a chance to win a $10 Appreciation certificate to their online store, Family Christian. This DVD or any one of their fantastic products will make a great gift this Christmas. Please enter below!

Great For Teaching Kids About The Bible by krystlbear on 12/9/2014

I received a copy of this DVD in exchange for this review.

My son and I watched episode 1 of the "What's In The Bible?" series several months ago and he really enjoyed. I have ever intention of getting all of them, but for now we have episode to 10.

Episode 10 of "What's In The Bible?" is a great DVD. My son loved watching it and we have both learned a lot of it. It's fun to watch, my son (8 years old) was giggling at some of the characters. The messages are easy to understand. The puppets are fun and the songs are catchy.

If you want your kids to learn the bible stories, I would recommend this series.
