- Well Written High Sea Adventure by Avid Reader on 11/29/2012
This second book in the series is in set during 1813. Mrs. Phoebe Lee has been forced upon a ship by her pregnant sister in law Belinda. Belinda made a deal with Captain Rafe Docherty to help save her husband from prison. The Irish Captain Rafe Docherty has his personal reasons for having Belinda aboard.
This is a well paced book filled with romance, revenge, secrecy and high sea adventure. The memorable characters are well rounded and there is a lovely Christian message of redemption and forgiveness.
You wont really need to read Lady in the Mist(book 1) to follow along since Pheobe is slightly introduced there.
Even though this is The Midwife Series, this book doesn't contain very detailed/graphic deliveries since it takes place in the ocean. Clean and interesting weekend read.
