The title and theme of this record, Fearless, arose from a turbulent period for the group. While creating the album, they faced numerous challenges including evolving from a trio to a duo, the passing of Blanca’s father and learning how to balance newlywed life with a heavy touring schedule. Blanca and Manwell confronted these tests and have emerged stronger than ever before. Fearless takes listeners on a lyrical journey through the truths that they faced over the past couple years.
Earlier this year, Mars Hill Music entered into a partnership with Tooth & Nail Records/BEC Recordings to share the variety of worship bands from Mars Hill Church. The second full-length release from this partnership will be from Ghost Ship, which finds its home in the new Mars Hill Downtown building in Seattle.
Lead Worship Pastor at Mars Hill Church Downtown Seattle Cam Huxford thought he’d follow in his father’s footsteps (a pastor to the same congregation for 28 years); however, this Georgia native started down the path of a musician early as he discovered music.
“I had this really bad folk band,” he admits, detailing his early days as a musician, “And we were kids, just sharing songs we’d written, and I had an idea for a worship song…and we just wrote it.” He went on to study Music and Theology at East Tennessee University, and post-graduation landed as the lead worship pastor for a 20k congregation back at his father’s church.
Years later, Huxford and his wife started feeling called towards urban ministry and, after researching, found that Seattle was one of the most un-churched cities in the nation. They learned about Mars Hill and Huxford quickly became involved. He’s been leading worship at the downtown campus ever since.
Seeing the congregation sing alongside him is what Huxford and his band Ghost Ship have been doing for about two and half years. Comprised of Huxford, Doug Finefrock, Jamison Dewlen, Chae Choi, Shay Carlucci, and Fancy Morales, the septet worships with a rock-folk sound that fosters Huxford’s specialty of scripture-inspired storytelling. They write and lead with the faith that God will be at the center of it all, thus the name of their band. “Ghost Ship” is a reminder that they’re moving by the power of the Holy Ghost, active vessels for the Lord motivated through the Spirit.

Tim Timmons, Reunion's newest artist, strives to invite believers about Jesus to become followers of Jesus through his own personal story. Tim's story is not living with an incurable cancer, but it is his perspective through it. That message is passionately put forth on his label debut, Cast My Cares, out June 4, 2013. It's a record filled with tender ballads and powerful anthems that speak profoundly to this generation. Timmons' earnest and compelling voice on the first single, "Starts With Me," spurs the intellect and moves the heart. Cast My Cares inspires an awakening within the church. Join the revolution.
"It's taken me some time to REALLY believe that when Jesus said 'It's done,' He MEANT it. There is such a default setting in me that wants to earn my way to being loved by God. There is also a default setting in me that thinks I can un-earn my way to being loved by Him. Both, by His grace need to constantly be re-set by the Gospel of Grace. He loves me. Now. Even while the 'old man' remains. He loves me. He loved my wretched heart to death.."
Jason Gray is enjoying his first #1 single this week as Nothing Is Wasted reached the top spot on the Soft AC Chart. The song is having a strong impact with fans, as Gray continues to get letters of support for the single, with the messages saying how the hope and reminder that Jesus is our redeemer has changed their lives. It's from the deepest wounds/That beauty finds a place to bloom/And you will see before the end/That every broken piece is/Gathered in the heart of Jesus/And what's lost will be found again.
“Wow! That’s all I can say,” exclaims Gray. “Of all my songs, the one I most look forward to singing is Nothing Is Wasted because I know there’s always someone in the audience who needs to hear it—someone who longs to be assured that loss, pain, and even failure do not get to have the last say. God, the One who holds all our stories and works all things together for the good of those who love Him, has the last say and His final word is love. I daily get notes from people telling me how this song found them when they needed it most. I’m so grateful for the support radio has given this single and that it’s finding its mark in the hearts of so many people.”
Power-pop rock outfit, Relient K. has a new album releasing July 2, 2013. As far as I can tell, this will be a digital only album. Needless to say, there will be a lot of great songs from Matt Thiessen and band.

GRAMMY® winner and multi-platinum recording artist Chris Tomlin just completed the most successful tour of his 13 year career, with his spring 2013 “Burning Lights Tour” not only seeing a 53% increase in average show attendance above his 2011-2012 tour, but also selling out 25 of its shows, including major U.S. markets like New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Chicago. Additionally, Houston, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and Seattle each saw ticket sales in excess of 10,000.
Upon the completion of the tour, Tomlin has announced the continuation of “The Burning Lights Tour” this fall, which will hit 21 cities across the country beginning October 3rd, and once again feature friend and pastor of Passion City Church/Communicator/Passion founder, Louie Giglio. Dates will be announced soon, with presales beginning in June. All tour details will be available at www.ChrisTomlin.com/tour.
The final night of the spring run, also a sell out show at Denver’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheater, was filmed before an enthusiastic crowd for what will be Tomlin’s first Live DVD project. The two-disc Burning Lights Deluxe Tour Edition, due in October, will include the live DVD along with the Burning Lights CD. The packed-full project will feature a glimpse into Tomlin's full live tour experience and will feature the powerful moments of "Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)," "Revelation Song" performed with Kari Jobe and Louie Giglio's full 45 minute talk.
This January, Tomlin accumulated the biggest first-week sales numbers of his history-making career when his latest studio album, Burning Lights, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. With more than 72,000 units sold, Burning Lights marks Tomlin’s first trip to the top of the Billboard 200 and only the fourth time in history that a Christian music album has entered that chart at No. 1.
