Girls and hair drama just seem to go together. In our home there has been plenty of wailing and gnashing of teeth over a particularly bad hair day. Best Hair Book Ever! is the perfect solution to all those hair nightmares.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It is so much more than a hairstyle book. It is a very detailed book on hair that includes care, cut, and style. I loved that it came at it from an angle of "every girl can have terrific tresses."
The beginning of the book is a tutorial on learning about what style and texture of hair you have (straight, wavy, curly, or kinky) and what looks best on your face shape. It starts with the basics like how to wash and dry your hair correctly and then moves into six different sections of different types of hairstyles.
While I would have liked more step-by-step pictures to go along with the directions I did find the directions on achieving the style to be pretty clear. The styles are designed to appeal to tween girls but I have to admit that as an adult I learned quite a bit that I plan to implement into my hair regimen.
There are even some DIY recipes for things like dry shampoo and beach or salt spray. What sets this book apart from other styling books really is all the tips and tricks it contains. Your girl is going to devour all the wonderful information.

Buh-Bye bad hair days! This complete hair guide boasts on it’s back cover. Written by the Editors of Faithgirlz and Girls’ Life magazine this book claims that it will make cute styles easy to have every day. So does it live up to that?
My daughter (9) was gifted (or cursed depending on the day Smile), with my naturally curly hair. She hasn’t yet mastered the brushing of it on the underside so there are many brushings that end in tears. She also doesn’t like her hair fussed with too much either. She is more of a braid or pony girl. When I saw this book I was so excited! Maybe seeing the fun do’s in it will help her to see how much fun it can be when we do our hair and take care of it. Anyone with hair has battled the struggles of it not doing what you want. It seems that if our hair is curly at one point we want it straight, and if it is straight, we want if curly! I can truly attest to the day to day struggles of naturally curly hair and it’s mind of its own! I was in my 20’s when I really started to appreciate my curly hair! Sadly, this is true!
This book is full of styles for any hair~up-do’s, down-do’s, braids, long or short hair. Having a bad hair day? No problem! There are many great tips like how to deal with frizz or how to handle those trouble tresses! A great book for any young girl!

This is another great title from Faithgirlz that provides practical advice for today’s girls. The book is full of color photos and step-by-step instructions for creating beautiful braids, pretty ponytails, and whimsical waves. I especially love the way that Faithgirlz features a variety of models, from caucasian to African American, blondes to curly-q redheads. It’s truly a diverse collection of hair styles for girls.
Creative hair-related crafts and DIY projects are sprinkled throughout the pages. For example, one style tips recommends that girls can use an old t-shirt to absorb excess water from freshly washed hair. That’s a suggestion that any girl can use, and it doesn’t cost a penny! The Best Hair Book Ever! would inspire a whole night’s worth of hair styling. Try it at a sleepover, Girl Scout meeting, or maybe even a girl’s Sunday School class. The only thing that would make it better? A companion video page that demonstrates how to create these looks.
