- Great Inspiration on How to Pray When You Lack Insight by Amy on 1/2/2015
I was thrilled when this book came out and I had the opportunity to read it. Not only do I have a son, but I also have quite a few grandsons. So many times as a mom and Nana I have a difficult time understanding and relating to them. Yet I am incredibly blessed to know God loves them all, and He created each the way He wanted them to be. So as I pray, not only will He be working in their lives, but also helping me to better love and understand them.
This book is full of wonderful ideas and Scriptures of things to pray about for your son. Also incorporated are short stories that will give encouragement to your heart. As things come up, I find myself turning the pages and looking for Scriptures I can use to pray about a particular area of his life. A few areas that really stood out to me:
When he needs wisdom
When his faith is shaken
When he needs self-control
When he's bored
When he's competitive
There is so much more, with over 10 life areas to pray about - this book covers ALOT! If you have a son or grandson - you will certainly want to get a copy or give a copy. We can never pray too much for our children.
I received this book from Revell in exchange for my honest opinion. NO other compensation given.
- Great Book for Boy Moms by Karen on 11/8/2014
Being a parent is tough, and probably one of the things i worry the most about. Am I teaching them right from wrong? Am I helping them learn skills they will need in life? Do they know they are loved and how to love back?
As if all that isn't enough, I have the added responsibility of being the mom to a boy. Yes, our daughters are important. But our sons will one day be husbands and dads. They will be the leaders of their homes and the ones that our future grandchildren rely on to provide for their needs. They will be the protectors and the defenders, and the ones who carry on our family names.
So am I praying the right things for my son?
In A Mom's Prayers for Her Son, we are guided through almost 80 prayers that are specific to the needs of boys. Each prayer is proceeded with scripture to help us know God's words for our son's needs.
Some of the prayers include:
When he's afraid
When he needs courage to live for God
When he's rejected
When he has enemies
When he is in the wrong crowd
One of the things I also love about this book are the stories that are nestled in between the sections. Stories from real life boy moms who are willing to share their experiences to help us all raise better moms.
I've already made notes in my books and found myself marking prayers I know I will need often. This is one of those books that will remain within my reach for as long as I am praying for my son.
- This book will stay with me always! by SavingsInSeconds.com on 10/18/2014
Here's why I LOVE this book. It is made for the busy mom who needs to know what to say. In exasperation or pure desperation, it's hard sometimes to put a mama's fear into words. Our worries paralyze our tongue and confine our hearts to terror. The table of contents serves as a guide to the root of the problem, so all I have to do is look up the problem we face. Whether it's about a test grade or about wrecking the car someday, I can use the prayer on page 32 titled "When He Needs To Tell The Truth." Of course, the message should be personalized in response to the situation, but the general idea is helpful to follow. The tough topics aren't avoided, either. There are meaningful words for times when a son falls into addiction, when his life is set apart, and when he's choosing who to worship. The prayers can be applied to any situation throughout a boy's life and even into his adulthood. After all, I know that my role as a praying mom doesn't end with my children leaving my house. Then it will just truly begin, I'm sure! I'm really hoping for a supplement to this book by the Tiegen duo -- A Mom's Prayers for her Daughter. I received this book from Revell Reads. The opinions shared here are 100% mine.
