Their journey to Merakh should have made Errol and his companions heroes of the realm. Instead, they've been branded enemies of the kingdom.
In the wake of the king's death, Duke Weir is ruling the country- and he intends to marry Adora to bring an heir from the royal line. With Errol and the others imprisoned and the identity of the rightful heir to the throne still hidden in secrecy, Illustra is on the verge of civil war- and threatened by hostile forces gathering on every side.
A dangerous mission to free Errol is attempted, but the dangers facing the kingdom mount with every passing moment. The barrier has fallen, ferrals are swarming toward the land, and their enemies draw ever closer. Will the discovery of the true heir turn back the tide of Illustra's destruction?

- exciting, suspenseful, action-packed by Laura Langley on 3/28/2014
Author Patrick Carr does not disappoint in A Draw of Kings, the gripping finale to The Staff and the Sword trilogy. In keeping with the first two novels in the series, A Cast of Stones and The Hero's Lot, hero and main character Errol Stone's adventures continue to offer action, suspense and plot twists and turns that keep the reader guessing until the very end.
In A Draw of Kings, we find Errol and his companions are enemies of the kingdom instead of friends, despite their journey to Merakh. The kind has died leaving Illustra without an heir. Errol and his companions return to Illustra to find Duke Weir ruling the kingdom, while the identity of the true heir is still hidden. The barrier is falling, hostile forces are gathering, and Illustra is facing war on more than one front. Will the discovery of the true heir turn the tides? Find out in this exciting novel full of excitement, adventure, and suspense.
My husband has long been a fantasy book lover, but so many of the secular books include inappropriate content. In this series, we've found all the elements of excellent fantasy writing along with wholesome values--without sacrificing the exciting plot line or the charm of the fantasy genre.
This is one series my husband and I have enjoyed reading together, eagerly anticipating those two or three evenings a week when we could continue reading about Errol Stone's adventures. So rich were the characters and so enchanting were the various settings, that we were actually saddened to end the series.
I highly recommend this series of books and anxiously await the author's next book. Get a copy of A Draw of Kings from your local bookstore or from online booksellers like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or Christian Book Distributors.
