- H.A.P.P.Y. by Laura on 8/14/2015
Another great book by Arlene Pellicane. Moms often get discouraged by all the things we aren't doing, but Arlene's approach to encouraging us to make small changes daily really make a difference. We need to discard the "I already know that mindset" and be open to learning new techniques and approaches to make us the best mom for our kids. By regularly evaluating our performances (and choices) we learn from our mistakes and know that we have a clean slate the next morning. This book was encouraging and a must read for all moms.
- Need to refocus? read this book! by Heatherm on 8/5/2015
I first heard of Arlene Pelican when she was a guest on a Focus on the Family radio broadcast. She was sharing about her book 31 Days to a Happy Husband. While I feel like I have a happy husband and am a happy wife, I was not feeling as confident in the mom department. So I was intrigued when I heard about 31 Days to Becoming a Happy Mom. While I really want to feel more happy in my role as a mom, and have my interactions with my children marked by more fun and light-heartedness, that is not the focus of this book. I love that this book is about being intentional daily, one day at a time. Not perfection but purpose. The acronym is so helpful:
Yes - filled
Happy isn't about an emotion but an intentional way of approaching and living out each day. Reading one day at a time was totally doable for me as a mom of three - something I looked forward to and gave me one thing to focus on at a time leaving me confident and not overwhelmed. This book is not a formula or magic equation, it doesn't contain any brand new ideas or philosophies. This book is full of age old wisdom Arlene has gathered from many seasoned mothers and such a good reminder of how to keep the main things the main things and let go of the rest!
- Must read for ALL mother's! by Lisa on 8/1/2015
This is a must read for all Mother's, no matter where you are on your journey. I love how the book is broken up into 5 keys to happiness, and designed so you can read it as a daily devotional, or focus on one step a week, etc. You can go at your own pace, but if your like me, I couldn't get enough and couldn't wait to read it all! Loved the daily prayers also! You owe it to yourself to read this book, it is packed with valuable, life changing words, and real life stories of encouragement. Your kids will thank you too :) Thank you Arlene for sharing your words of wisdom!
