Our culture is saturated with sexuality. All you have to do is turn on the TV and within a few minutes of watching a popular sitcom, you will witness lies about sex; couples sleeping together before marriage without any hesitation, breaking up with your ex only to sleep with her best friend, or pregnancies out of wedlock. All of these and so much more are deemed acceptable in the eyes of the culture. Society weaves what they believe about sex, which is mainly opposite of the Bible’s views, into every part of the world around us.

My heart breaks for the youth around me because society has twisted God’s beautiful design of intimacy shared between only a husband and a wife. They have given us rose-colored glasses so we can’t easily define the truth instead of crystal-clear ones. Youth in our day don’t stand a chance to save themselves for marriage because from the time we are walking, we are told it’s okay to do what ever makes you feel good; this includes sex.

I wish men and women knew the value of their bodies.

I wish men and women understood the importance of the gift of sex.

I wish men and women grasped the beauty of the gift, which is found only in marriage.

The enemy will do all he can to make sure he distorts and ruins any gift that God calls beautiful especially the gift of physical intimacy. It’s a beautiful gift God has given each and every one of us. He has entrusted us the gift of sex. The question I have for you is: What you are doing with your gift?

What are the lies and myths the enemy has quietly spoken into your heart? Have you listened to them? Jennifer Strickland’s book not only encourages you to value sex but also trades the lies for truth!

Sex.. That highly taboo topic in some places, spoken of quite frivolously in others. The one some Christians don't talk about enough and that world talks about too much. You know the theme most of us tend to shy away from.
Jennifer does not. She addresses it head on. This book contains myths (an unproved or false collective belief) that girls tend to believe and live by such as guilt, fear, feelings of worthlessness. And the counterpoint to that myth - truth from the Word of God.
This book pretty much covers it all - abortions, premarital sex, promiscuity, STD's, as well as, love, kindness, feelings... There is really more than I could list here with out taking up a lot of space. Jennifer identifies by using stories of women who have been through the situations themselves, including her own. She explains how much God loves us and His plan for great sex, within the context He created it for.

This book is ideally for older girls, but mothers may want to use it as a learning tool. Teenagers would benefit from reading this book especially if they are exposed to a great deal of culture and peer pressure. If your young girl has been sheltered a bit more, you may want to wait til she is a little older. But many young teens now days need to hear what Jennifer has to share. You may not agree with everything that Jennifer has to say, but there is certainly a lot to glean from this book. I would encourage you to read it, and share it with those you know.

I was blessed with this book courtesy of Barbour Publishing in exchange for my honest opinion. I am not required to write a positive review.
